I use an old seed cleaner with some diy fine mesh screens to clean my compost and wood ash. Works great to get out any foreign material. Only paid about $75 at a local auction for the cleaner, and put in about $200 to repair the electric motor and build new screens. Just a modified old A.T. Ferrel Company “Clipper “ seed cleaner.

Adding ash can’t hurt anything! Good way to amend soil too! I think you are really going to enjoy having a larger pasture like that I assume you’ll be rotating animals so they don’t over graze any one part. I like that you did that in the smaller pasture next to the big barn. I think it’s all shaping up for a great 2024! Thank you for sharing. See you on the next one. Hi Evan - I would not tell the salvage yard "you can have it", most salvage yards pay good money for rusty old scrap metal including old fence wires and any old twisted metal fence posts you have and they will pay "by the lb" and they will have you weigh your trailer when full and after unloading. (may only be worth $20 or maybe $50 for that trailer load) but its "better than a stick in the eye" is an old saying. They will separate the types of metals and companies will buy it from the Salvage yard and melt it down to make new products so it has worth. Take care !

Do to metal theft, burnt wiring is commonly a no go without a letter from a fire department official, saying yes there was a fire and its not metal theft. . We run a little b7100 kubota with liquid filled tires and a backhoe. Its able to handle about 700lbs that way. It was mabe 250lbs at most before. Makes moving lumber around in a tight space quite easy. We run a 1950s jd 440 crawler/loader, for the big logs. Or custom ordered beams, that are massive. Very few rubber tire machines can equal what it can pickup.

JudithB I need to load a couple of freezers, a frig and a dryer, along with the smaller appliances that quit in the last 3 yrs. I hope the scrap yard takes it all!!!! Still nothing from the furnace guy, but I have located another one. So much to do in the spring time!! The chicks are 3 times the size when I got them 3 wks ago, and got seedlings to start planting in the hoop beds. Also found the Dinosaur Kale seeds that I want to try this year. Peaches and crabapple trees are in full bloom and the blackberries are sprouting. Worried about a frost since out frost date is April 16th. Weird weather for sure! I want to get the garden cleaned, beds repaired and still need to get soil test don this month, try to hold off on planting and fill the greenhouse up instead.

It's going to help your hay stand this year with what your doing with the lime, potash and boron. The liquid ballast will help you immensely for counter weight on both tractors, I have methanol or calcium chloride in all but one of mine. Oh no, lost you chimney cap, well at least your wife seen it and you got it back on. The scrap yard should take your fencing wire, mine did, but you don't get anything out of it, it will help taking up the barrel of scrap bolts and metal. Good luck, I hope you have a blessed week.
@ronaldlee237610 ай бұрын
Last fall, i took field fence to scrap yard. They refused all wire fence, claiming their new multi million dollar bailer allowed fence to become imbedded in bottom edges & labor to remove + damage was too great. Also, they had a new, long list of items not accepted. So good luck at your scrap yard.
@timcritz319410 ай бұрын
My local scrap yard also will not take field fence , barb wire nor chain link fence as they claim it can jam up the shredder as well.
