I appreciate that when you guys are fishing that you never seem reliant on your electronics to catch fish. It's refreshing to see anglers fish patterns rather than strictly electronics. That's why I hold your opinion on products higher than most.

Life without Tactical Bassin is not a full life! Funny story… I have a buddy out in Tennessee and he and his friends fish Chicamauga on a regular basis. A few guys have seen Matt and Tim fishing and making videos on the same day that they were fishing… those boys out there are absolutely astonished by how Matt and Tim constantly catch bass, big bass, a lot of bass and how they do it year round! At first, they thought that the TB videos were somehow fake… but now they know and have the utmost respect for both Matt and Tim!

Boss man just looking for an advice, last week I broke a st croix victory (73MHF) while setting a hook, with my warranty i was able to get a legend tournament (74 HF) I think is called a slop n frog, I would like to use this rod for punching, or even frogs. Could you enlighten me on this and if i could have your opinion please

Tim is a hammer and a half man! I’ll tell you what. I love how Matt is always like good job and always says something encouraging to Tim when he hooks up and lands one. Matt is super OG. Both are legends and should be in the Hall of Fame one day. On another note. I had a fish eat my RkCrawler the other day like that ATV. Just whole bait in the throat. Just barely the tip of the bill sticking out. Said the exact same thing. Gotta take a picture of that, think she wanted it haha.

My home lakes, ripping a jackhammer through the milfoil is 🔥 there now. In future 20 isnt enough for Guntersville
@richardbossman98758 ай бұрын
I used to think 20 lb was like saltwater strength and there was NO way a bass, even a big one would break it unless it was rubbed raw. Between breaking off an S-waver on a backlash and seeing Tim snap 20 like it was thread on the hook set my mind is changed ( it has been but this was just more confirmation).
@richardbossman98758 ай бұрын
Forgot to add that I broke 40 braid with that S-waver
@andybales73188 ай бұрын
@@richardbossman9875that's why many big bait fishermen still use mono....20 lb. Mono isn't snapping on any bass
@tacticalbassin8 ай бұрын
We use the lines we do because of years of experimentation. I've had a mid-teener break 30 lb Maxima Ultragreen mainline on a straight pull at the boat. It sounded like an explosion when that line let loose. Giant bass have incredible raw power!
@jamesbarron12028 ай бұрын
@@tacticalbassinwas that 30 lb tied to leader? Makes a huge difference when your running straight mono. That’s like breaking a small length of rubber band vs a very long length. More line out more elasticity to take a hard pull.
@tacticalbassin8 ай бұрын
@jamesbarron1202 that was straight mono. We've tried it all many times through the years. Straight mono, fluoro, and braid. Braid to fluoro, braid to mono, even a variety of connections, including knotless splicing. That's why we speak with so much confidence 👍🏼

Check out the new Dobyns champion XP 746cb for chatters, traps, spinnerbaits, etc. It's graphite and competes with their dc736cb glass but balances even better and is a blast to fish.
@nathanblake36088 ай бұрын
Ok so maybe it’s the way I have mine set up, or maybe it’s just a DC reel thing, or at least the lower end DC reels. I have 1 SLX DC and I do love it for certain things but I have been using it for spinnerbaits the most in the last year and it has been amazing. Only thing I have noticed with it is that if I am throwing into the wind it absolutely does its job and does it great (I have it set up somewhat loose with very minimal brakes.) but if I walk to a different location and now I have the wind at my back I have to thumb the reel a little bit to keep it from starting to have issues. I’m just trying to figure out if it’s a me and my set up issue, or if it’s just a common issue with lower end DC reels, or if that’s just an issue that all DC reels have? Does this new metanium 70 DC have this issue at all?

I’ve been having an issue with breaking off a lot of bass on the hookset lately. 7 foot medium/fast Expride spinning rod with 10 pound Suffix 831 to a 10 pound Invisx leader. I was using 8 pound fluoro but after breaking off a few, I stepped up to 10 pound and still broke off a couple more. I will admit I tie a uni to uni knot for my leaders because it’s easier and faster to me than an Alberto and I wouldn’t even attempt an FG knot. When I reel the line back in after breaking off, I still have the knot there, it always breaks at the fluorocarbon side very close to the leader knot. What am I doing wrong? Am I swinging too hard? Is my drag too tight or is it something to do with my knot? I know it’s not bad line because I have that same 10 pound Invisx on my jerkbait rod and haven’t had any issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I saw one of the fish jump after breaking it off and it was a 5 or 6 pounder. Losing big bass is really tough to swallow!
@sunwukongmonkeyking55618 ай бұрын
I think it’s the knot that you tie on for the leader.
@andybales73188 ай бұрын
Fluoro breaking randomly isn't unusual, unfortunately....if Fluoro isn't changed out very frequently, it gets weakened from fish catches, snags, heavy lure weights....fluoro has no controlled stretch like a mono...most pros likely change it out weekly, if not more...if u feel the need to do braid + fluoro, use a monofilament leader....or, change your fluoro every week...majority of lakes, a leader isn't necessary in my opinion...gin clear lakes, it's a benefit...But, most lakes aren't gin clear...Matt & Tim like braid + leader & it works for them...I have no doubt they change their fluoro out all the time...
@tacticalbassin8 ай бұрын
The knot itself should be solid, it's something about how you're tying it. What you're describing is happening ad a result of "burning" the leader when you cinch it down. Try to really wet the knot and cinch it up slowly before pulling hard to lock it down.
@vincentgelles38058 ай бұрын
Thanks for the reply! I’ll definitely give that a try. I hope I never break off another big bass again. If they shake the lure during the fight that’s not as hard to accept because it happens sometimes but breaking them off on the hookset is hard to swallow.
