YEAHHHHHHHHHH!!! Born & raised in Magnetawan. Jim is a neighbor now and lives around the corner from us. Great job with the fanboy clip editing finding all the Jim stuff. He does have a ton of content up. Thanks for getting your spring trip up!

Nice area, I've been going to Ahmic lake for over 2 decades through the summer and Magnetawan bait and tackle is always my first stop. I always watch Jim's video's as soon as they come out but over this winter I watched all the long versions and enjoyed them just as much!

@@jaysway2346 That's great! One of the many jobs I had as a kid was counting worms at the bait shop for the original owners. Owned by the Rob and Ellie the son and daughter in law now. Back then it was just a small wooden shack basically. The foot print of it is now the where the propane tanks are fenced in. Counted worms in the basement of the house. "Sundown Acres" is my homestead. Next up the road. Nice that you know the area.

@@thepriest98 Thats cool! A lot has changed, 124 was still a gravel road when I started going up there. The best spring water in all of Ontario too.

I love your videos even though I'm not a fisherman. When I met my husband, I tried to like fishing but failed. Instead, I gave birth to a fisherman and I credit fishing to keeping my son out of trouble. when his friends got involved with drugs, He only had eyes for fishing! He now is a veteran with a wonderful family and a great career. By the way, I love to eat fish!
@jaysway23468 ай бұрын
Nice story Patricia. The funny thing about fishing is that if you have the bug, you could fish all day and not catch anything and you can't wait to get up in the morning and try again! We appreciate your son's service, thanks.

Congratulations on your first brook trout on the fly (and all the bagillion that you caught after that😂😂), I knew you could do it!!! 👍👍👍👍

I'm not sure if I should blame you or thank you Derek, I only picked up a fly rod after watching your video's and now I'm hooked. I just have to find a hot spot, any honey hole can make anybody look good.

@@jaysway2346 you're definitely going to blame me when you start going further down the rabbit hole of tying your own flies 😂😂😂 We're you using a white wooly bugger?
@jaysway23468 ай бұрын
@@DerekSOutdoors The rabbit hole has already begun. I don't believe it was a wooly bugger, just some small white flies I bought at Sail.

41 lbs including food and camera gear or is camera stuff in the grey pack? I also use the gear ties and would love to know what brand of ball/elastic ties your using.
@jaysway23468 ай бұрын
Hey Chris, it was 41lbs with food in my white pack, 21lbs in the grey bag with all the heavy stuff, full frame camera, gear, tripod, batteries, and some other stuff and scout's bag was 10lbs. The vet recommends no more than 25% of her body weight.
@chrisschell908 ай бұрын
@@jaysway2346thanks for the info Jay! I am at about 27lbs (no camera gear). I love your set up and am surprised I am lower than you. Maybe we can compare notes someday.
@jaysway23468 ай бұрын
@@chrisschell90 Nice, 27lbs! Spring is a balance, I would rather bring extra, than bringing too little and being cold. I bring a thicker air mat, heavier sleeping bag, sleeping bag liner, 2 person tent, 1 set of warmer clothes, 2 tarps, puffy jacket (never used it) bug shelter & leatherman to cut hooks mainly for the dog (never used it) Larger saw (trail mtce) survival knife (not needed but fun) fry pan, cooking oil, small grill for fish, butane fuel for quick water boil and this year I tried a BearVault (heavier than a bag but once I had no where to hang my food) That's the main stuff. The ball bungy cords are from amazon brand named Teantech. 6" are the ones I use most.
