Mary, Mary, Mary! If I did all you did in one day I wouldn't be able to get out of bed. You do inspire me for sure. I will have to take smaller bites out of my spring cleaning. Well, I am 77 years old so of course I can't do all you do. But you are a VERY hard worker and I love watching you clean and create! Please never change who you are. God bless you and yours.

Good afternoon, I feel exactly the same, at times I even feel so guilty by not coping with essential cleaning. Alas, we are not getting younger, I try my best to stay as active as possible but there is a time and place for everything in our lives. My birthday is next week Lord willing, I am turning 78 years, I think I can say Rome was not built in one day, so I am dividing the responsibilities into a longer period. I also find some ornamental things are quite heavy and I do not wish to drop them as it all holds dear memories of setting up home. Do take care, tomorrow is another day. Many blessings.

Wow!!! I miss the days of spring cleaning. I'm 65 years old now with a bad back. Plus I have so much clutter. I also live back in the house that I grew up in, along with my mom and dad's stuff, grandma and great aunts stuff. Dark old furniture too. Your home looks so clean and bright. You are blessed

When I watch you creating amazing projects, I think, well, I'm not a woodworker, or a seamstress or a painter. But what's my excuse when you spring clean? I have no excuse! Practicing Jews do a major spring cleaning to prepare for Passover. I usually start in the kitchen and then get to the rest of the house later. Thanks for the inspiration.

Mary you are one of few youtubers I've seen who knows what a deep clean really is. I think we can take a few days or more for one room and really enjoy the process. This is a great time of year to do it before we're all out in our gardens! Thank you for letting us gain inspiration from you!

I am from Austria, grew up in the 60's and 70's and I remember how thoroughly the houses would be cleaned in spring time ("Frühjahrsputz"). In that time it was common to heat and cook with charcoal and wood, so there was a lot of dirt exposed to the interior. My grandfather and my aunt were painters and therefore our walls - especially in the kitchen - would get a fresh coat almost every year. Nowadays we still do a spring clean with deep cleaning and decluttering. I think it is a way to say good-bye to winter time and welcoming the long awaited spring season. 💖

In my younger years I used to clean much like this. The lady that helped me said I created work. At the time I lived on a farm, f cooked a hot lunch for all the employees, worked in the fields when needed, took care of 3 babies who were 18 months apart in age, and took care of a garden, picking ,freezing and canning the bounty..We even had hog killings and processed all the meat. Those were the good old days. Definitely slept well as I am sure you do. Now sadly I am 71 years old with stage 4 heart failure wishing I was able to even cook a meal. You are an inspiration to so many. I enjoy watching all you do. Thank you so very much for sharing. God bless you and your family.

Here in Japan we do the big clean the end of December. We say, "Take care of this year's dirt during this year!" But the motive is similar. Many relatives come to visit at New Year's time and we want our houses to look their best.

Mary, I would get a tall, thin style basket to put the wires and such in behind the sofa. That way, they are together, and the cats are not stepping on them. You could make a wood box to put them in, too. It would look very nice.

Hi Mary. This brings back the dreaded spring cleaning days of my youth. Every square inch of our home was cleaned. Washing all the Knick knacks in the bath tub, the windows that did not tilt and Old English on the wooden floors. The house smelled so good after but it was pure exhaustion.

One of the many reasons of over the centuries that spring cleaning was done, was to remove bacteria and infections diseases from our living spaces. We have modern science to prove that these diseases were there than , but I sure the people knew that spring cleaning brought about better health after long winters inside.

Hi there Mary, I must say, once you get going you do not stop. I cannot manage so much in one day, I would be doing the ornamental things and tomorrow washing the walls and perhaps do the floors. We live in a very dusty area, it is absolutely horrible, but we don't wish to give up our home, we have lived here many years, and we are quite central, in other words, close to so many amenities. I have to say, it is a great feeling when all is washed and cleaned out, the dust sucked out of soft furnishings. I do agree, I have a Miele vacuum cleaner, had it for many years, then the motor burned out and as the rest of the machine was fine, we just replaced the motor at almost three quarters of the new price. It was a good saving though, if this should tyre out, I would like to replace it with another Miele, they are so reliable and they clean thoroughly. Love the change of rug in the lounge, sometimes smaller is better. Enjoy your home, it is such a blessing to have one, and I feel if you are grateful for all your blessings, take care of them all. Regular cleaning and painting. After all that work, are you still cooking dinner, we plan ahead and have a casserole ready, we do not buy take out's at all. We used to of an occasion but not really supporters of fast foods. You should not be climbing onto a chair, a two or three step ladder for ladies is preferred, an aluminium small scaffolding is even better, price but so much safer. Give it some consideration. Kind regards.

My mom would do her beautiful rose garden and when we got done we would all go to the lake. So we would work fast to get it done. Great work ethics . The times we couldn’t go to the lake , we would sit on the floor and my mom teach us how to be ladies , dress and conduct ourselves. Great times. Thanks for sharing.

We did cleaning chores every Saturday, but a huge Spring Cleaning once a year. We'd move all the furniture, take the area rugs outside to be shampooed and dried in the sunshine, washed all the floors, cleaned, waxed, and buffed the hardwood floors (and then we got to "skate" around in our clean socks!), washed walls, and put up fresh curtains. Whew!

Then she turned on the shower to rinse them off.😂 it was quick and easy. Curtain sheers were always put in the wash machine, but the heavy drapes were hand washed on the hooks with the bucket of mild soapy water. Room looks super refreshed 👍
