Spring Creek Special, Holsinger's Fly Shop, Episode 526

This weeks video is a fly that my good friend Dave Thomas showed me while fishing at his camp on Spring Creek near Bellefonte Pa. I was struggling to catch a fish that day and this fly ended up keeping me from getting skunked. Since then, I've used this fly in other situations and have done quite well with it. I know this isn't my standard style tungsten bead head nymph you're used to, but it works. I just have to change my setup a little bit to fish it. I have been dropping this under a sulphur fly during the evening hatch this year and have had a lot of success that way also. This is definitely a small little fly that deserves a spot in your box.

Great little pattern from ffp and Mr Thomas. I have fished at Dave’s camp before but I just parked off the side of the road and walked down and fished my way back up

@@HolsingersFlyShop that he is and that stretch is fun to fish in my opinion when it’s really low summer floats. Makes you do longer casts and helps work on the precision at longer ranges

There’s just something about segmentation on the flies body that triggers trout.

Im in michigan ypsilanti, On the Huron river. It’s pretty much a smallmouth fishery. What have you come here and fish the Manistee river which is the salmon steelhead CoJo capital coming off of Lake Michigan monster fish and also the Au Sable river. Just wondering if you have come to Michigan and did any flyfishing here I love your channel by the way I just found it.

Actually when I was young I had an uncle that lived in Portage and had a boat he docked at the Manistee. So I fished the lake there on the boat when I was younger. A few years ago I did make a trip up through Michigan and fly fished the Pere Marquette where I caught my PB king then I went up into the U.P. and caught my first pink salmon. I need to get back out that way again soon. Thanks for watching
