Was never a 'clean as you go' person. How exhausting to be cleaning all the time here and there. Then I decluttered PROPERLY and whoa. Cleaning as you go is so much easier. Feels amazing to reset the house in 5 minutes. Now I don't have to spend the weekends cleaning and actually have time to set aside an hour on the weekend to deep clean something in my house. Life changing.

The key is to declutter first to be able to keep up with your home! I have started on minimalism two years ago and progressing. I'm stressed less. I can clean faster. I can find items faster. I save money not buying extra items. My teenagers are very minimal also. They have learned to budget their money and to prioritize their spending. My home does feel like a vacation home :)

And only leave a hand soap dispenser with dish soap, on a tray with sponge, and put away everything else, so i made a basket under sink with cleaning stuff. We cleared our work/study desk so only monitors and plant lol. Tv unit only ha d a plant on top lol. Slowly getting there. I realised i wanted to go away recently to escape house work and i said to hubby ithinok that's why i wanted a holiday now. Shower only has soap and face wash. Shampoo etc we don't use every day so that's away. Been a couple weeks like this and it's epic! So easy to clean too. It's motivating haha 🌻💕☕

Most people look at our space and ask us when we moved in.😂 I decided last week we are getting rid of all the hodge podge furniture we’ve acquired through the years; they don’t bring me any joy. Most of the pieces are just places for us to clutter. Out they go! Thanks for the pep talk!

@@vw418 I haven't owned a dresser either, I have minimized my clothing collection to the contained hung up in my closet, and items that can't or shouldn't be hung up fit into a plastic set of 3 medium sized drawers I have. Your videos are definitely making a difference in my life. The very first video I saw was your video talking about upgrading or fixing up your home to enjoy it as opposed to waiting until you sell it to do it for someone else to enjoy. Taking your suggestion, In Dec I started renovating my 18 year old kitchen and boy it has made a huge difference! It feels good to be in a different, clutter free, more updated/modern nice environment. This is the first of many other home projects on my list, but seeing how well this one is coming along, I’m looking forward to doing the others. Another video you talked about not leaving kitchen appliances on the kitchen counter. Before I saw your video, I thought that’s exactly where all of them belong. They are now neatly stored away in my lazy Susan and my countertops look so nice and clutter free. I also took 8 boxes and 3 garbage bags to the Goodwill after looking at your other decluttering videos. I still have a ways to go because I’ve lived a certain cluttered way for so long, but thanks to your videos I’m making progress. Man, Keep it the great work!

I started my journey with you last spring. I wish you could have seen where I started and where I am today. It was enjoyable discovering space and the peace that comes with a clutterfree home. We have no television and read more. I bought and read your book the more of less. I've past it on to a friend. Also a side note is money in the savings account. I no longer purchase things I don't need. And have been able to support missionaries and our church better. Treat family and friends to dinner or experiences for gifts instead of trinkets they have no use for. You changed my quality of life. More time for God and family.

Spring decluttering makes spring cleaning easier and is mandatory in my case. I can't cope anymore with the clutter in my house. I need to tackle my kitchen and my bedroom this weekend before I lose my mind. There are just so many things I no longer need and that can go away
@campseifer3 жыл бұрын
I’ve found that if I have to move more than five things out of the way to clean then I’m going to just not do it. If I have to move more than five things off the shelf then I’m going to say forget it and not dust. If I have to pick up more than five things off the floor to vacuum then I’m going to say forget it I’ll do it tomorrow. So my goal is to have less than five things in each area, shelf, counter, etc. 😊 This goal is helping me declutter.

Here is my "hierarchy of cleaning." (Each levels success depends on the previous level.) Declutter- part with excess possessions Organize- give everything a specific place in your home based on a logical system Pick up- actually put/return everything into it's designated place Clean- remove dust, dirt and grime Repeat as necessary I think people get lost because they get these steps mixed up or try to do more than one step at a time.

Great comments, Joshua---as always!---So far this year I'm on course with my resolution of not bringing any new books into my living space for the first six months of the year and it hasn't been any trouble at all to resist Little Free Libraries and the library bookstore where some of the books are just given away. I think a big help was telling people about my plan. Doing that made it more official, you might say. I've also given away 89 books I hadn't even read. I would have enjoyed reading them but I chose having a little more space and a little more peace over the books.

I can totally relate! I had thousands of books in 600 sqft, it was all too much visual clutter. And I LOVE books. Most are gone. I still have cookbooks to sort. Now I have books I'll pay to move, books I'll keep until I move to donate then, and books to read. I took back my floor space one inch at a time. It was painful but I can see my floor!!! I love the space more than the stuff.

Then I do another hard thing half of the day and the easier things, I see progress. At the end if I don't get bombard with my chronic pain, I can continue if not, that is what holds me down. As crestons wife I get noticed for me minimalism led to more than just minimalism it led to letting go of bad relationships whether that is family members friends or inlaws and it has led to boundaries for myself and having consequences and not rewarding bad behavior. It has also helped me build better relationships with ones I can trust and keeping my inner circle small. Not getting too friendly with people who have a bad history of treating others badly. I don't have dysfunctional people in my life anymore and it has led to good hobbies and now practicing detachment for my own peace of mind. It also helped in paying off our credit card debt and staying out of debt and living with in our means. It has led to contentment and gratitude and more peace .

Hey, thanks for your videos. Know what? I’m starting to declutter our house right now. I find your videos so inspiring. Been watching the whole night. I hope I can do this until I’m done (slowly but surely…hahaha) Again, thanks a bunch🥰

Thank you for doing this!! 🙏🙏 I'm repeatedly watching your videos in order to hear the sentences (a lot of it i know) repeatedly, to let them sink in (somewhere in the subconscious). That's a kind of daily preparation to having the right mindset when I approach decluttering/cleaning. It works! (It's overwhelming, but with this "method" i am able to at least start, and see progress, because I have some ideas/steps about what to do).
