Your garden is getting off to a beautiful start and is a perfect reflection of who you are according to the scripture posted at the end. Proverbs 31:15, 16 & 25 Your peaceful, gentle, sweet spirit is always very refreshing. We're eating strawberries this week from our first time ever growing them, They're very prolific! Sweetest we've ever eaten. We agree with your adorable little son, you can never have too many strawberries. :) Blessings and shalom ♥♥♥

I was so excited this morning thinking my spring onions and chives were sprouting, but no it was the "seedless" straw that we used for mulch. Out of the 9 raised beds we straw mulched, 6 are covered with them. I've sunce read that if you water just the straw heavily and daily for a week or so, let all the little seed heads sprout, then leave it be for another week to ten days, all the seeds will have germinated and died and you can use it without worry. Sure wish I had read that last week. 😅

Oh noooo! It’s such a bummer but man that info would have done us good! I guess we know now! I’ll have to share that on my next tour so others can learn through our mistakes 😂 Thank you so much!

Isn’t it amazing the joy that comes when you see new life push through the dirt or a bud form on a bush? I had to replant peas about 10 days ago and late last week I had sprouts coming through. My joy in seeing those sprouts filled my heart to overflowing. The Lords provision of sustenance and joy for those he created, comes from his creation as well. Spring is an amazing time of new life and a reminder that God’s mercies are new every morning. The garden is coming along beautifully Kelsey! It was a pleasure to walk with you thru it!

Oh it is! I feel that joy for sure, it sounds so silly but my heart leaps every-time I see a new sprout or bud. Soaking in this time before I’m overwhelmed by the amount of produce I need to preserve 😬😂 Beautiful words. Thank you friend. Have a lovely Tuesday ❤️

@@seedandsparrowhomestead EXACTLY! The days of abundant produce calling on us to put away for the winter will soon be upon us. I will think back to this time of great anticipation and be grateful for the work before me as I’m sure you’ll do as well. 😊

I love how you write 'how much you can grow in a small space'... when I keep thinking "wish I had a garden that size" (I live in the Netherlands where gardens are like... 300 sq ft or so)
@seedandsparrowhomestead
@seedandsparrowhomestead Жыл бұрын
Oh I’m sorry! I guess here that is a small space. Most people associate a homestead with having acreage. Our entire plot is on 1/4 acre which includes our house, garage, one outbuilding and a good portion that is too shaded and root ridden to use. I’m definitely very thankful for what we have and I hope one day to acquire more land but I just hope to inspire people to grow now where you are with whatever you have ❤️

Comin right along! 😊 Is there a definitive purpose to the squash tunnel, I'm curious. Support for the plants or structure for shade cloths? I'm trying to be very intentional in my garden this summer and I'm so drawn to arches & cottage'y spaces like this 😘
@seedandsparrowhomestead
@seedandsparrowhomestead Жыл бұрын
Squash vines take up a lot of ground space, space I don’t have to dedicate to them, so growing them vertically gives them a place to go without compromising dirt real estate 😂 it also helps deter squash bugs as they prefer to be on the ground.
@sprigssprouts6786
@sprigssprouts6786 Жыл бұрын
How many squash plants will you be planting along the tunnel? I haven’t really grown squash vertically so interested to know your plan.
@seedandsparrowhomestead
@seedandsparrowhomestead Жыл бұрын
@@sprigssprouts6786 I'm going to do 2 plants to each arch, so six along the entire thing. Now, I will say, that's me being rational right now. Come planting I may try and "squeeze" a few more in there 🤣

Go and buy horse hay horse hay. It will not do the weekday and it has no chemicals. They cannot be any kind of chemical laden stuff to horses. That’s what I use. Straw is a no no too many seeds.
