I'm Greek and I hope you don't mind some tips. Tzatziki is pronounced with the t and z in front. Traditional tzatziki includes garlic and shredded cucumber ( not diced or cubed) which is salted and strained. You can add dill if you want. Without the garlic it's just a dill cucumber sauce. Tzatziki needs to include garlic. Hope this helps.

She did add a couple of teaspoons of garlic. How much garlic do you recommend? Thank you for the shred, salt and strain tip.

I love tips! Always willing to learn! I did add 2 tsps minced garlic, maybe I’ll try the shredded, salted and drained next time! It’s always nice to know how to make something truly authentic!

Another tip i learnt for removing the cabbage leaves is to put the whole head in the freezer for several hours, then, remove leave to defrost, and after its defrosted it becomes soft and easy to peel off leaves and very manageable, theres no need to boil them soft, as they will already be soft and easy to work with. 🙂

I do that as well. Works grest.

I don’t think the purple potatoes have ever looked better than they did in the BKF hash! The beet kvass is traditionally used in Borscht soup.

Tabouli (bulgar wheat salad) is another good base for a Mediterranean bowl. Near East brand makes a shelf stable mix that calls for tomatoes; I like to add cucumbers and red or yellow bell peppers (diced) to it as well.

Have you tried licorice basil tea? It's my absolute favourite! Also, have you tried making a simmering potpourri with the stems, flowers... from the basil? I grew cinnamon basil the first year and I simmered the scraps. It smelled wonderful!

My mom would leave some cabbage rolls without the cabbage because I was such a picky kid lol. Our recipe is somewhat different, so I thought I would share. 1 lb meat, 1 cup rice, 1 egg, 1 onion. We cook in tomato soup on the stovetop instead of in the oven.

I make my own tzatziki all the time. It's the best. I like to use freeze-dried dill and let it rehydrate in the yogurt. And I've always shredded and squeezed the liquid out of the cukes. It helps keep your tzatziki from getting watery.

Unfortunately we do not have a garden anymore but our first plan for the morning is going to our local Mennonite farm and picking tomatoes, green beans, and peppers. Making 2 varieties of spaghetti sauce and canning up green beans. Haven’t done either since we had our own garden. Excited to get it on the shelf.

Blasphemy! 😂 I love my shishito peppers! Costco sells them for $6/lb and I just harvested 2 lbs from two plants. I recently did a quick pickle with them and onions and lemon cukes. Delish! Normally I blister like you did in the video. They’re not as hot as other peppers like jalapenos and make an excellent substitution. 😊

this is a great party and family gathering recipe for a healthy drink: Banana Brunch Punch Serves: 3 qts. From the Kitchen of: Lorita Sutton Ingredients: 6 med. ripe banana 1 can (12 oz.) frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed, 1 can (6 oz.) frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed 1 can (46 oz.) pineapple juice 3 cups warm water, divided 2 cups sugar, divided 3 bottles (2 liters each) lemon-lime soda Recipe instructions: In blender or food processor, blend bananas, orange juice, lemonade until smooth. Remove half of the mixture and set aside. Add 1 1/2 cups of warm water and 1 cup sugar to mixture in blender; blend until smooth. Place in a large freezer container. Repeat with remaining banana mixture, water and sugar; add to container. Cover and freeze until solid. One hour before serving, take punch base out of freezer. Just before serving, place in a large punch bowl. Add pineapple juice and soda; stir until well blended. You can Garnish with orange slices & lemon slices if desired. Yield 16 to 20 servings. This is my favorite punch to use for a party or summer gathering!
