This trilogy should have been one game with 3 (or more) variants. The tetris pieces may be used in all games, and the holes can be ignored when not needed. Player boards can be designed to fit more than one game. Only reason I see why this is a trilogy, is money for the publisher.

Definitely agree I don’t need all three. I have Patchwork for two players and Indian summer for more players. Great review as always.

I like the idea of filling the grid from the bottom and scoring the rows. It makes it VERY much like a board game version of Tetris. I think even kids would really like the gameplay, but the theming is a bit bland. I see comparisons to Barenpark-- but the main advantage to this game is setup. Placing random tiles out on the board where people have limited choices each turn is way better than sorting and stacking the Barenpark tiles. I would love to hear the Dice Tower thoughts on how this compares to other polyomino-style games.

I don't think cottage garden is the lightest because of the overly complex scoring system. Gaming the six scoring cubes is important to winning but no fun whatsoever! I actually think this is the most accessible as keeping holes together is a good thing but you don't need to make them match shapes as in Indian Summer and there are no special ability tokens. Of the three I'd definitely choose Spring Meadow. It's on par with Barenpark for me.

Not feeling the aesthetics on this one. Just looks so bland.

Easiest decision: if you can only get one, you buy Barenpark. If you can buy two, get Barenpark for a friend.

Dan barenpark is meh imo

Always take opinions/reviews with a grain of salt. That said, BGG users agree with Barenpark both in overall ranking and average rating, as of right now.

Patchwork though? I think Patchwork is a lot better game than Barenpark, and BGG agrees

Patchwork is awesome, but only plays 2. Depends on what you’re looking for; sort of like 7 Wonders Duel vs Wonders.

Haha 7 Wonders Duel sucks, 7 Wonders is good. But ok, I get your point Anyway I’d rather play Cottage Garden than Barenpark

Would've been better if the 3 games could be combined for a mega game

My favourite of the three is Barenpark! LOL. Cottage Garden is second. :)

Looks okay but just stick to patchwork or a feast for Odin to get your polyomino fix.

Butt-ugly, and probably boring as well. Patchwork is brilliant and a must-have; the other lot are just not in the same league.

Seems as the weakest of the three to me..

That's not what the Publisher wants to hear... lol nice

Cash grab. But good to know Indian Summer is the best of the three. That's the one that I should get then.

Hey, thanks for the preview .... made it clear this was the least interesting, and an easy pass. Disappointment averted. Thanks!

Patrick Doss I don’t own any of them yet. Wondering which to purchase. Just curious why you think Indian Summer is the best? Do you have Barenpark?
@spiderfingers866 жыл бұрын
@@wattsoever when it comes to puzzle styled tile placement games, I own Indian Summer, Barenpark, and Mondo. Though I've played Cottage Garden and Spring Meadow. Barenpark is great because it has alternative point scoring conditions that change each game. Indian Summer to me had the most interesting concept as a race and has more interaction with other players. Mondo is my favorite of the three I mentioned but it's really hard to find nowadays. I love the real time aspect and also has alternative point scoring

Patrick Doss thanks so much for taking the time to reply and the thoughtful insights! Super nice of you!

@@wattsoever no problem. In conclusion, I would say that you'd be good with either Barenpark or Indian Summer, depending on which one you run into first. I personally wasn't a fan of how you scored in either Cottage Garden or Spring Meadow. Seemed to clunk up what wanted to be a pure tile placement. For more information, you can always see the games themselves be played on boardgamegeek.com
