YES I would definitely love to see a POC of how you'd mod your own spring leaves to a gasket mount board, like how you converted your OG tofu to a spring mount! I'm currently using a gasket mount board and all these newer, more bouncier mounting solutions have definitely made me hella jealous.

The leaf spring mounting concept is a really good one, and I think that's the way forward for anyone going for a deeper sound profile. I already submitted the interest check form at Epomaker.

I'm curious if there's going to be any issues with metal fatigue or "sag" over time. In cars, they've even used composite materials for leaf springs to avoid such issues. I wouldn't mind a FR or CF plate that has a the spring integrated
@Keybored Жыл бұрын
That is something to keep an eye out for
@philipp594 Жыл бұрын
That only happens when you pushing the material close to breaking. It happens with cars because the leaf springs only go in one direction but there is compound loading in curves and also cost and weight are big conisderations in that case so they fatique over time. If you compare the size and weight of these keyboard springs to the car ones you will notice the difference.

@gunterdienektarine3802 Жыл бұрын
i really hope this becomes the new standard mounting style because this way you don't have to use a softer plate material to make your keyboard bouncier
@philipp594 Жыл бұрын
I like alu plates, because they distribute flex more evenly and sound very similar whereever you are on the board. You can still make the sound deeper in other ways. Clacky switches with alu plate and pe foam are a really underrated combo.

I've hit a certain point in the hobby where I don't want to follow the latest never ending trend of this hobby like the newest mount style to the vast amount of similar mx style switches. I just use my hhkb nowadays and for custom builds I just whatever case that looks good and buy some gateron yellows to lube for it.

The production now Tofus suffer from slightly bigger housings which makes them harder to seat into plates and a nightmare to pull out without mangling a few switches, other switches by KNC keys manufactured by Tecsee have this issue as well such as the Green Jackets and the Red Jackets 2.0.

I'll be honest, I think that the flex cuts are not only unnecessary, but are actually detrimental to this keyboard. It's already so bouncy that the flex cuts don't really do anything to provide any additional flex. It just made the sound super thin for the no foam build, and even the full foam didn't sound that great to my ears. I just don't understand why they were included considering the already insane amount of bounce provided by the spring mounts.
@soymilktotheface Жыл бұрын
I’m not an engineer but while it wouldn’t provide additional bounce, would it not contribute to ease of bounce? Like force required to bend? feel like you can’t say it’s completely unnecessary

Thanks for the feedback!
@K1LO_ Жыл бұрын
Couldn't agree more
@metrix8155 Жыл бұрын
@@soymilktotheface I mean I would technically do something, you're right. However, it would be so small compared to what the springs already do that it would be negligible. I don't think there will be a non flex cut pcb, so we won't be able to know for sure, but that's just my guess.
@zerotwo3084 Жыл бұрын
@@soymilktotheface So, Bounce would be the entire assemby moving, flex would be more local like when you press a single that key and maybe some sourrounding keys flex. This kind of PCB can work with a very soft and cut plate but when you add an alu or fr4 plate, even with some cuts, the movement of the individual flex cuts is basically nothing.

With matcha and mushroom, I think the magicmind contains a fair amount of l-thenanine. So if you need some thing a bit stronger, try taking l-theanine + caffeine, 2:1 ratio. Nice video btw, I like the idea of adding spring to gasket mounted keyboards. Let's see if I can find some thin piece of metal for that.

Retrofit spring mounts for poron gasket boards: Could this be the much anticipated Keybored keyboard? (brought to you by PCBWay)
@philipp594 Жыл бұрын
Wrist rests are bad for ergonmics, because you are pinching the nerve in the carpal tunnel when you wrist is lieing straight on it. Eiterh don't rest it, or rest it on the table in front of the keyboard and prop up your elbow so that you are not hurting the nerves.

Absolutely would love to see you engineer a similar mounting in another gasket mounted case! It’s too bad epomaker’s almost surely using a proprietary daughterboard. I feel like a no flex cut PCB in this would be great, and given that it’s plate mounted, presumably the type c daughterboard is the only thing standing in the way of swapping out the PCB.
