If it's spring and bass , when you roll outta bed... Fish any color you like, as long as it's red! Lots of bass fisher types add mono leaders of various lengths to their braid lines... for contained stretch. Helps them from making bass all religious...holey... lol. Give that a go before you dump the braid. Braid is great especially when we're fond of frog or punch fishing... helps pull those monsters out and away from trees/ bushes... Great video... love the bank fishing.
@DEBOSFishing5 жыл бұрын
Couldn't agree more man. I really only add a leader to braid for topwater poppers or walking baits. I've messed with it in other situations and I'm just not a fan on lures that I'm casting. I know a lot of guys who swear by it. All just a personal preference thing. You got that right about the red, it has been doing work!
@manrod48715 жыл бұрын
I've learned something new today then. The only reason why I love mono leader is because of the friction resistance. I didn't know about the "holey" fishes. Anyway thanks to lot guys. You have a nice channel. Keep it that way

Hey Debo, thanks for the conversation about red lures a few videos back. I appreciated the dialogue. I am really excited to toss the red lipless crankbaits I bought over the winter. You are convincing me that my "investment" in red lures will pay off. Guys, I have no affiliation with WalMart (in fact I'm a big pro union guy) but check around your local WalMart for boxes of discounted lures called "Bait Bonanza." If you are lucky you can find a nice assortment of Cotton Cordell Super Spots, in colors such as Red Craw, in both the 1/4 oz. and 1/2 oz. sizes. You can hopefully also find some Cotton Cordell Big O Squarebills and some Cotton Cordell C.C. Rattlin' Shads. Best of all the price per lure is $1.99!!! If you find a "Bait Bonanza" box count your blessings and STOCK UP!!!!

Matt and Tim (Tactical Bassin) recommend mono if you're ripping a lipless out of grass because of the stretch it allows the bait to slowly accelerate away from the grass which gives the bass time to grab it unlike with straight braid which will pull it away way to fast when ripping it

I am pleasantly surprised at the success I've been having on a lipless crankbait, I lost my red ones to snags last year, and when I went to replace that color, the store was out! So I picked up a couple of shad color schemed Strike Kings, and they have been working just fine, even caught a 3lb 5oz Snakehead on it. I do have on 30lb test braid, but on a medium rod, and I haven't noticed holes being ripped in my catches, perhaps the medium power works well with that braid, but I also am not setting the hook extra hard like I would for frog fishing.

I fish medium-heavy rods with braid, my rods have a soft tip and I fish lighter 30-35 lb braid. I like lighter wire trebles and don't try to over power the fish, I've never cought a fish and found holes in their mouth like that. Not sure what part of my set up helps that but I would recommend trying lighter braid (maybe even a leader to give a little stretch) and a soft tip, possibly even lighter wire hooks. Again I'm far from a professional and I'm not saying anyone is wrong for fishing like that but it works for me if you want to give it a try.
@DEBOSFishing5 жыл бұрын
No you're completely right. I advise the same things you stated. Softer rod, line with stretch, lighter wire hooks. DEBO'S Fishing yeah he is having a kid soon and said he is gonna upload more but it think he is having a problem coming up with content. I really hope I run into you or him this summer fishing. Last year I didn’t even buy a fishing license...I hope to get a lot more fishing in this year

I only use braid. Mono isn’t worth the lost fish.

When fishing for bass do you need a leader or just straight main line to lure ??
@GoatyHerps5 жыл бұрын
You'll get a billion different opinions on this topic. I personally only use straight braid for frogs and other topwater, and straight mono for everything else. Just remember: Man has been catching fish for thousands of years before all of this fancy crap was thought of.

Yea, leader really depends on your setup and preferences. Thanks for watching man!
