I'm 80% Fly Fisherman when fishing for trout, steelhead and salmon!! I think if you simplify your rig,loose the bobber,and only weight the line you will find your sense of feel and reaction greatly inprove! To much focus on the indicator or bobber takes away from your instincts!!

You are a fly fisherman for sure. Also a bead is a fly IMO as it’s an artificial that mimics something organic the fish feed on. A San wan worm is just a piece of stiff yarn material that looks like a worm and it’s considered a fly. Same with a dot of hot melt glue on a hook to mimic an egg, it’s a fly. As for the fast shallows runs being better for fly presentation I couldn’t agree more. There are some techniques that better suit certain types of water. Being versatile catches more fish than only fishing one technique. 👍🏻

Did you honestly say anyone can fly fish 🤣 if you don’t practice it for casting and learn the waters then no not anyone can do it

Good video, By any chance did you keep track of how many of these fish could have been flossed.
@FishFray2 жыл бұрын
Its hard to say. Its always possible when there's large numbers of fish, but on this day i'd say its unlikely any were flossed just due to how aggressively they were hitting everything we threw at them

Nice session there!!!! Are these waders the Orvis Pro with the knee padding? If so how do you like them so far? How many days have you been putting on these?
@FishFray2 жыл бұрын
They are ! I liked them . I thought they were going to be more durable that other waders I've tried based on their tougher feel. However, after about 1 calender year of heavy use, they leaked from multiple spots. I have not been able to get any pair of waders that I have tried to last me over a year
2 жыл бұрын
@@FishFray Same problem I've had after ~200 - 230 days on the water they all seems to fail. I came across the Patagonia in the local fly shop, they feel almost too rugged. The price tag is ridiculous but one of the guide working at the shop told me he has two pairs just because the warranty is so good, whenever one fails he sends them back and use the second pair just so he's never out of waders while waiting for the return lol. Of course my Orvis failed just past the warranty (I don't have the pro) I wonder if the Pro actually has a longer warranty service. I also keep hearing about the Dryft but I haven't had a chance to check them out.

In your opinion, Is it the style of bobber, Or the whole fly line and bobber set up that gets the different drift you’re talking about?
@FishFray2 жыл бұрын
I think its a combination of the floating fly line, and the rig with a tiny float and much less weight than a standard bobber rig
@jeremydulac59202 жыл бұрын
@@FishFray Thanks for the reply? Up to how deep do you find you effectively can fish with the lighter setup? I want to try fly fishing for steelhead so was hoping to pick your brain. I have some deeper holes up to around 6ft on the river i fish, not sure if itll be effective.

next time you break out the fly rods, do your first pass in the run with a wooly bugger or popsicle style pattern. take advantage of the aggressive fish. once you work your way down the run, work back up with your indi rig.
