Simple Living Alaska

17 күн бұрын

Spring is in full swing in Alaska with thousands of migratory birds showing up daily to breed and raise their young in the state's vast wetlands. A quick outing lands us a few beautiful birds to bring back to the cabin. Once processed and clean we try our hand at Peking Duck and are not disappointed with the iconic dish.
We appreciate you tagging along for our Alaskan adventure 😀

We really think something took it and that's why we heard that short abrupt splash ten seconds or so after it landed. It was a green winged teal and they are very small, it was a strange experience, we felt crazy not finding it.

Duck liver pate’ is a superior delicacy. ❤I never had duck until I was about 45 years old. My family never enjoyed it apparently. I absolutely loved it. Same thing with lamb. In both cases much of it is just the way you prepare and season the meat. Both are extremely delicious flavors to me. Duck and lamb are so good. The Thai version of duck with pancakes, plum sauce, Thai basil, green onions, cilantro and Thai chilies…🤤🤤🤤🤍🙌

IDEA: We live in Michigan, where there are lots of mosquitos and deer flies. My dad has 2 ponds that he would stock with catfish, bass, blue gill and perch. He set up a really large bug zapper set out over the water on a huge pole, so the zapper would constantly drop bugs into the water to feed the fish. Could you hook up a bug zapper to the solar in the chicken area to feed your chickens MILES of mosquito bodies? LOL.

Life is too short...eat things you like the way you like them. This was a joy for me to watch you guys enjoy the fruits of your hard work. I also adore heart and I'm happy to see that liver is growing on you guys. Liver is one of the the most nutritious things you can consume. so sneaking even a little bit in, like with the pierogis, is good for ya. Great chinese pancake technique. Slicing the duck made my mouth water. Bravo my friends. Thanks for the fun. Jim Mexico

Greetings from Islamabad.Beautiful colours of spring to start the hunting video.Good to see you guys hunting, cleaning, cooking and eating together.Wow special recipes to cook the ducks with organic spices. Duck meat has a strong, gamey flavour and is closer to red meat in texture and flavour than birds such as chicken and turkey. It is very lean with a layer of healthy fat which, when cooked correctly, imparts a lovely flavour into the meat. Keep hunting, cooking, eating, fishing, camping, traveling, gardening, canning, working and smiling 😊

Found this and thought it might be worth a try around your cabin or where you might be working?🤷‍♀️ 1. Homemade Mosquito Trap: Mix 1 cup of water and 5 tablespoons of sugar in a pot. Dissolve the sugar over low heat. Add 1 tablespoon of yeast, then turn off the stove. Cut the top off a 2-liter plastic bottle and invert it into the base. Pour the sugar and yeast mixture into the bottle. Seal the top with tape and cover the bottle with cardboard or fabric. Place the trap in areas where mosquitoes gather. 2. Bay Leaf and Clove Spray: In a pot, combine 1 cup of water, 15 bay leaves, and 20 cloves. Simmer for 10 minutes to release the scent. Transfer the mixture to a spray container. Use this spray in areas where cockroaches, flies, and mosquitoes are a problem. 3. Insect-Repellent Spray: Mix 1/2 cup of shampoo, 1/2 cup of white vinegar, and 1/2 cup of vegetable oil in a container. Combine the ingredients thoroughly and transfer the mixture to a spray bottle. Apply this spray in areas where insects are common, such as cockroaches, flies, and mosquitoes.

Another awesome video, E&A. Eric shooting ducks. Arielle shooting nature. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the processing and cooking of the different dishes. WOW. Dry duck curry is also delicious, as it’s a gamey meat. Will go well with 🍷. I like gamey meat well cooked! I just woke up and was surprised to get this Friday morning notification from your channel. WOW thank you ❤️❤️ Avid 🇦🇺 fan.
