I would say the decision on kelleher to disallow lowes try was wrong. The legs came back as a direct result of the neck roll and counter ruck driving his legs back. That being said. Our unforced errors were what lost us the game. You should never leave it to the TMO/ref

@louisvanniekerk26123 ай бұрын
Siya was carrying the ball very well, which normally is not his greatest asset, but he never plays towards the ball as a 6, which is a cardinal sin. Marx and Van Staden made a difference at the breakdown because both plays toward the ball, which their opposite numbers don't. Further, both are better defenders than Kolisi and Bongi. Further, in the tighter situation, they carry with much more power. I think Steenkamp played really well when he came on. Kolbe was excellent, De Allende, Kriel, and Willie were the other players who played well. I think Faf cleared the ball well under pressure , pressure created due to the forwards not protecting the scrumhalf. Porter scrumming illegally and not punished by the ref is a concern. Wilco Louw demolished Porter irrespective of his illegal tactics by binding incorrectly thereafter withdrawing from the contact, and consequently, Malherbe over extends then attempts to correct his position to avoid a penalty Porter amounts pressure. The last scrum Malherbe got the better of Porter but was penalized for what? Against Koch Porter could not take the hit, but Koch was penalized for extending.

We see it happening week in, week out in the Champions Cup and in the URC. With Regards To The TMO Interventions in this game between South Africa and Ireland: For me the narrative that the Ref and TMO was "more in favor of South Africa than Ireland" is driven on Emotion and the End Result. Because if the TMO Interventions were "more in favor of Ireland" this exact same narrative would have been switched over to the other side. Professional Sport is a Results Driven Business.

Thought it was a good game. Some rust certainly. Pollard didn't have his kicking boots on or the result would probably have been more emphatic.

How can anyone say the TMO shouldn’t say anything when there’s a clear breakdown infringement, which immediately led to a try.

I thought Ireland were very below par, and very unlucky, yet still, SA looked eminently beatable in the second half. …Cue a rash of upset SA fans to TELL ME I’M SO WRONG. 😂 On a side note: The South African stadium playing dance music and encouraging the crowd to party while Casey was on the floor concussed and being stretchered off was absolutely disgusting. Shameful.

Agree about the Casey incident and it was convenient that they played one replay from one angle . The tackle was late and dangerous and the player will be cited…

I don't agree, you can't say Ireland didn't seem themselves bla bla bla...if anything Ireland had a massive advantage over SA in terms of the fact that they played an entire six nations together whereas the boks had 2 weeks with a brand new coaching staff. We are talking about professional athletes here and you cannot compliment Ireland's squad management in one breath then say that they were fatigued in the next. You are only as good as your opponent allows you to be! Boks got the better of a well drilled and coached Irish team...plain and simple. No excuses

Both teams were not their best.There is definitely a change in the boks game plans. So I think they will get better. But the boks defence was really lacking around the fringes.

Had Kolbe not followed up and scored, play would have gone on because the linesman did not flag the ball as out.

If I were an Ireland supporter, I wouldve been seriously pissed off by the decisions. Faf was not at his best behind the scrum and struggled to provide clean ball. Damien, Siya, Jesse and Pieter Steph were outstanding.
@pauljansen66503 ай бұрын
What decisions? The 2 incidents where very 50/50 and reffed according to the letter of the law. Can't mention that without mentioning the continous illegal slowing of the ball and interfering with the 9 at every ruck can you now?

The scoreline could've been a lot worse and so i don't completely agree. Had all the spot kicks gone over it would've looked very different. Boks at the breakdown were not good enough. Faf fell asleep literally. We should stick to the Bok style of play and incorporate taking the ball out wide around that.

The beautiful thing about it is that it is 100 percent South African team. Not some cobbled together team of players from all over the place. An incredible team with an incredible spirit of togetherness.

As a Springbok supporter, we certainly got the rub of the green in key descisions. The Colby try shouldn't have been alowed, Lowe was in touch. The breakdown was a mess and I really don't know how half of the calls came our way, or the Irish way for that matter. But the ice is broken and next week will be better performance from both sides. No good team should rely on 50/50 calls to win in big games.

Ireland may well be tired but SA has not played since the WC and the core of the team is from Japan where they stopped playing some tine ago. Others, like Etzebeth, played all the club games the Irish played. So let's leave the "we wuz tired" and "we didn't play a long time" BS. The Irish code has been cracked in the club games already. It rests on forward domination (with done shi*housery in the rucks) and repeated phased and then wide. It gets contained by by good and aggressive defence. And at the forwards SA was probably better in the set pieces (that last heavy metal scrum). Ireland left points on the field, SA as well. On the day SA was ( marginally perhaps but clearly) the best team and they scored the most points. So they won.

I just find rugby fans funny. If South Africa loses it's the ref's fault. If other countries lose to South Africa, the team didn't play their best players or they are tired. Just like life you 1 chance to ein a game it all depends how bad you want it excuses is not going to make anyone feel better. This was a test match and the best team won end of story
@bryanantolik99003 ай бұрын
Think the general narrative developing is around Ireland being short changed by the tmo, and leaving points on the park. Think if the Boks had lost there would be justified grumbling about some of the breakdowns and scrums not going the right way, they left points on the park (eg Kobe’s knock on metres from the line, kwagga dropping the ball, pollards kicks etc.). Think both teams were scrappy. Great occasion live, but definitely not the best game from either side. Boks definitely played more rugby than usual, passing way too flat up close to the line, watching up close you always felt passes were going to be intercepted.

Not to take anything away from South Africa, but Ireland look like a team full of players that need a couple of months off... I'm not a fan of the IRFU rotation periods either, the players look under cooked all the time!
