Makes me sad for Luna. They needed to do the same for him & didn't.

So sad for Luna, he died such a tragic death thanks to the Canadian government, they failed him completely. Springer is the lucky one. They could have easily done the same for Luna but didn't.

Great to see Springer being helped by humans instead of humans capturing them and putting them in captivity.

So happy for Springer- well done to everyone involved. Luna should've been reunited with her family/relatives as well. The government made a bad decision, and the world lost a very special orca. Such tragedy.

Dear Canadian government, thanks for killing Luna with your negligence. You learned NOTHING from the efforts that were spent to save this whale

JUST seeing this now. I’d never heard of Springer before. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, *THANK YOU* for not giving her to the greedy SeaWorld. I’m sure they were there ready to put her in their Orca jail. SO glad that didn’t happen ! I haven’t researched it but I pray and hope she’s still out there and thriving.

Plus, Springer's caretakers were very scrupulous about keeping even the _sight_ of humans to a minimum. Note her treatment pool: there was a covering so she couldn't see the people there and try to "socialize" with them (and I'm certain her caretakers were instructed NOT TO PLAY WITH THE BABY ORCA!), and her food was delivered through that pipe so she wouldn't associate food with people.

We owe in so many ways, to help wherever we can. Luna should still be alive. How much money will our politicians spend on the war machine, when just a small fraction of the billions spent could go to a better cause.

At last a happy ending story of a Killer Whale! Good job to all those who have given their effort to help Springer brought back to her kind. I've been watching Orca stories for a couple of days and this is the only successful story I've watched, hope to see more of this. I just wondered why they didn't do the same with Luna? These same people found Luna just before Springer was reunited to other Orcas. I want to know the reason why it took 4 years for Luna to live a solitary life and being deprived from any human contact then after 4 years died without having any chance to see his family again :(. I wish the same thing happen with Luna like what Springer experienced.

Lessons were learnt from Keiko's release. Stay out of sight,feed remotely, make sure that the family is located before release.

I only wish they did this for Morgan. They said that they looked for her family, but couldn’t find them (I think they didn’t even look!!! And only saw € signs in their eyes!) they said it was to late, that even IF they could find het Pod.. she couldn’t go back, her family wouldn’t accept her anymore... There and than I said it was a lot of BS what they where telling the people!!

Sadly, Luna died before they could help him. He was playing behind a boat and got pulled into the propellers and was killed instantly. Groups did try to help lead him to where his family were, but local tribes who considered Luna a reincarnation of one of their elders, intervened and prevented the rescue. Before another attempt could be made, he died.

If anyone thinks her case of being kept in a pen with minimal human contact for 30 DAYS is even remotely comparable to the whales at SeaWorld, you're painfully ignorant. Release any currently kept whales, and they'll suffer and die like Keiko did. (PS: LOVE SeaWorld! They are the true protectors of marine mammals.)
@janieluna41016 жыл бұрын
Frida Nyberg do u actually think SeaWorld stays those orcas are alone most of the time except when their r shows and their in a 80ft bathrtub because killer whales swim 100 miles a day plz do research before u love SeaWorld they just left Lolita in alone & defenses and no food at the mercy of hurricane Irma! If god wanted these animals in a tank they would have been born in a tank not in the ocean! They get depressed & devolve mental illness bored out of their minds & SeaWorld doesn't care they only care about the money u know that ticket u buy to see these incredible animals belong in the ocean!
@aidangm74192 жыл бұрын
@@janieluna4101 old comment but the distance orcas swim really depends on food availability. They will stay in a certain area when food is abundant and travel great distances when it is scarce. The whales at seaworld don’t have to travel long distances, they have a sustainable supply of food no matter if it’s fed to them or offered as live enrichment. In seaworld, the whales form several sub-pods based on who they get along with. You can even spot a couple of whales in an underwater viewing area at a given time. Lolita cannot be released as she is extremely susceptible to change and like all captive orcas, she can’t release into the wild because they may not know how to forage, their immune system may be compromised by the amount of toxins wild orcas absorb which they did not over the course of their life in captivity. Orcas are not depressed even if their eyes look like it. All orcas both wild and captive have the same “tired” look in their eyes. Dorsal collapse is based on gravity not mood. Seaworld does care for the whales. They recently added live fish for them to simulate hunting instincts as well as long toys that mimick kelping behaviours. Rake marks aren’t full on aggression. It’s just the way they establish dominance especially on the lowest ranking pod member. It happens in the wild. Rake marks are also found on wild whales. Killer whales in the wild eat 100-300lbs of food while captive orcas eat 200lbs of food. Activists like John Hargrove never really truly cared about the whales during his time as a trainer. He only cared about being the star of the show unlike other trainers. They are given back and fin rubs to rub off any dead skin as an alternative to rubbing themselves along the rocks in the tank. The whales at seaworld do not die from “abuse”. They can develop mental illnesses I know but with other diseases either respiratory or gastrointestinal, they cannot perform surgery on a whale as it’s almost impossible for that to happen. (Please don’t send hate towards me)

Luna died! Murdered! Aboriginals Wouldn’t let the government get involved. They didn’t even want people to communicate with Luna touch wasn’t permitted with Luna but he learned to hunt on his own. He was never sickly like Springer! They say he died because of a tugboat I don’t buy it. People talked about murdering Luna! The movie I watched about Luna was very sad!
