I have the Sig Sauer 1911 Black Nitron 45 Auto with rail and the Springfield RO 45. Also have a Rock Island 45 and a Glock 21. I spend a lot of time at my Dillon presses and shoot the Sig and Springfield a lot. As far as function and accuracy goes they are both great with most RN handloads I run through them. Most people probably won’t be able to tell the difference in the two at the end of the day. The Sig seems more refined and finished. I had the trigger in my Sig worked by a my gunsmith who has been working on 1911’s for 50 years. From the factory the Springfield trigger was better. With a little work the Sig is just as good. They are both good reliable 1911’s.

After extensive testing of Ruger SR1911, SIG 1911, an STI (lower range, 1.2k-ish), Springfield EMP 9mm, my long-time-carry/duty Kimber TLE 2 (along with my will-never-not-carry HK USPc .45 and Ruger .357 LCR /hammer and touched-up trigger job, those two or my Ruger GP100 or old 1976 bicentennial Ruger Police Shooter-Six)....Anyway, SIG P228/P229 and the P220/225 (esp the P220 Carry, full size grip, compact slide, can put a longer slide on it, too!), HK P30L/P30/SK and HK VP9 are my top, top top rated out-of-the-box-9mm under $900 and frankly very few can match them without extensive price mark-up or work. Being long-winded, I apologize, asperger's, brain damage from a VBIED I got hit with overseas, but one thing I know is being in combat with some of these pistols, from DA/SA M9 to M1911A1, even the HK MK23 (my favorite combat pistol combo with the HK MP5) Anyway, the SIG 1911 BARELY beat out the STI for ME PERSONALLY in shooting and dry-fire. Overall feel was a tie, honestly not a big fan of the state of Texas on the slide but I respect the fuck out of STI, the STI 2011 9mm Combat Master used in John Wick 3 and the CZ Checkmate are about 50/50 on which I'd want if I had the money, lol. Anyway in the .45 range very few things beat Heckler & Koch's game, imo. FN, SIG, but really you gotta go to 1911s to get the highest performers, the Ruger SR1911 is great bang-for-the-buck, the Kimbers are great but slightly overrrated (I could perform with a Rock Island about as well as I could my TLE 2, though my TLE 2 never had a single failure that wasn't related to two shitty kimber mags I had) My SIG 1911 Scorpion is quite unique in that I can't find a single one with the same grips or barrel, which are definitely both from SIG. Could have been an earlier model, the trigger was switched out I know that much (flat trigger replaced with a steel black wilson combat trigger) , some Chip McCormick Mags 10 round that I haven't had one issue with in the 1000 rounds I've used in 'em, a few Wilson Combat 8 rounders, the magwell in my SIG would make taking a 7 round mag pretty tough and why even bother? heh.... You really can't go wrong with any of these 1911s, I do think for the money the Ruger SR1911 is probably the best compared to the Springfield offerings in the same price range (the EMPs might be a different matter). STI is a always a good option, Kimber has a real love-it-or-hate-it thing going online, so do the SIG 1911s due to the unique slide (that said they make them with traditional slides now). I scored my SIG 1911 for $750 after my 8% veteran discount on top of another little sale they had going, but even if it was 1k I would have happily paid it! My wife had never shot a 1911 or .45 before and was nervous as is natural, @ 7-10-15 yards she hit nothing but the bullseye! (this woman can outshoot most men with a DA revolver and is the Queen of DA/SA transition for someone with no freakin' training, the newer "NCIS SIGs" the P228 or P229 Navy is gonna be her primary, switching from the P30SK to that, but ONLY because she just prefers the look and feel, and the trigger of the SIG). She really wants a 1911 too, but traditional, I think STI is likely. Anyway sorry for rambling, loads of pain meds will do that to ya lol. I cannot recommend the SIG Scorpion enough, check out the Hickock45 video on it and tell me it's not a sweet looking shooter!

So some one on youtube says "I don't believe in full length guide rod in 1911 cause it's not original..." and next thing you see is everyone doing video on 1911 changing out to GI guide rods which I think is ridiculous, I have full length in some of my 1911 and it works just fine for me.

I have Glock, Smith & Wesson's, and 1911's. My two 1911's are smooth as silk despite being made by different companies. The first is a Springfield Stainless loaded, the other is blue steel loaded Tisas. I only use factory-loaded ammo and quality magazines, good oil and synthetic grease, and most of all for reliability purposes STAY WITH THE 16LB RECOIL SPRING in the 5-inch 19ll's. Keep it simple and everything usually goes fine. A lot of youtube videos show guns not working, but they never say the modifications they did that caused the problems.

Gotta disagree with you hoss, there is something to be said with being a traditionalist, which is groovy and all, but for ME PERSONALLY (and let me rephrase, I disagree with the notion that the Sprinfield is better than the SIG, maybe it is for YOU, but overall? Not so much) the SIG Scorpion 1911 is about the perfect carry .45 (next to my USPc .45, with backup 20 round magazines, lol) That said I am very interested in the Springfield EMP 9mm 1911 for my wife as a consideration, though at that price point I'd wonder why I shouldn't go for a used Les Baer or an STI, y'know? But it's hard to beat a SIG 1911 for $750 (what i got it for after a veteran's discount of 8% from Handgun Haven + another sale that was taking place totalling to, I think, 13%) , I still would have paid full price. KimbeR TLE 2 (older model) used to be my duty pistol but im so glad I went over to HEckler and Koch's USPc again, just the perfect gun, only carry pistol I might like more (not counting my revolvers) would be the SIG P228/P229 or P225/P220Carry or even the P226, just something about them tickles me, just like the HK P30 and VP9 series does, but we all got that, right? Anyway, im rambling, brain damage, pain, asperger's, pain meds, and just a love for guns and conversation are all factors. I cannot stress this part enough: I think Springfield OR SIG? You are getting a damn-fine product. It really comes down to what YOU want. For example? MY SIG is likely not as good a fit for my wife as YOUR Springfield, as she prefers 9mm and has smaller hands so an officer-sized 1911 might be preferable, and in 9mm it is even slimmer, y'know? Much love and good-shootin' to all and to all a good night!

I disagree. Three 1911s is not excessive. You could trade the Sig in on a Commander size 1911 (or better still, a 2011) in 9mm. Series 70, of course. Have a nice day.

You don't want a 1911 to be super tight. That makes break in take longer. Kimber has a huge problem with break in time. Takes at least 500-800 rounds or more before you should bet your life it. Nice guns but risky in battle.
@themarshallgunchannel48656 жыл бұрын
JoeStentz Alien guitarist I wouldn’t take it to battle. My war gun is my Glock 19
@pressendforspanish6 жыл бұрын
Its not a Springfield anymore because you put Wilson parts in it. Also you said nothing about fitting the parts. 1911"s are not Glocks. Unless you are a trained 1911 armorer then you really should have it checked for safety and function reasons. Just because it functions doesnt mean its safe. 1911's have been produced so long by so many manufacturers that tolerances are all over the place and they are much more complicated than modern striker designs. "Drop in " 1911 parts need fitting quite often.
@mrhellotherehowareu13845 жыл бұрын
The only parts need fitting is the barrel, slides, trigger, hammer, safety, and sear. Everything else is drop in.
