I've always liked your content Justin. Like you, I'm just fine with iron sights on a handgun. I only use a red dot on my AR. My 1911's are safe queens and range toys and never carried. None of the gun manufacturers are making any money off me with new red dot cuts.

Agree! And then what they do is they try to tell you it's just a matter of training, that's a crock of crap! I got talked into the optic ready thing buy a buddy of mine, I have a few pistols that I purchased that just came with the cut because that's just the way the pistol came so I bought one put it on trained and trained and trained and hated it and hated it and hated it even more. Because if somebody draws on me in the real world you just are not going to have time to find the DOT, I don't care who they think they are they're dreaming. Point and shoot and iron sights is the way to go, iron sights never fail. That's why you see 99% of police officers out there don't have red dots even though most police officers can't shoot for shit. To me putting a red dot on a 1911 is like putting a screen door on a shower it just don't go.

It looked like instant candy must have but after thinking practicality, I'm much quicker with irons. I called Springfield about them producing a commander with bobtail pic rail front serrations 4.25" 10mm fully supported ramped barrel. I WOULD BE SO ON THAT.😁 Justin if you have more pull than I. I think they would have more of a winner with that option. All they have to do is re barrel the new TRP and run with it. Seeing you have a relationship with them. What do you think. The fire arm that has everything and no mim parts and shoots really good and great trigger was the Tisas Yukon C10 10mm. I bought that because they said no. All they have to do is that gun right there. I'm extremely happy with the Tisas Yukon. If you get the chance, get your hands on one. I was extremely impressed. Thank you for another great review but I think I'll pass on this Springfield AOS.

Picked up a 4.25” 9mm AOS yesterday in the Leo, retired military section of the display cases. The trigger felt decent and it came with three mags. It was an impulse buy but no regrets. Had an sig romeo 1 pro which I never got used to. A shadow 2 compact optic model I recently acquired, put a Holoson eps carry and thru 600 rounds, love it. This model may get an eps carry if one of the AOS adapter plates will accept it?

Are these alloy framed commander 45s the hardest recoiling 1911s? I want to like the AOS system but I feel those plate screws are smaller than they should be. The only way I've been able to secure them for thousands of rounds on Prodigys is with red loctite + 25 inch lbs or torque. Which sounds like a death sentence, but it's better than blue backing out, and with some heat it's undoable. Don't want to sound all negative, I think it's great Springfield came out with this and I'd still consider one. That new feed ramp is cool, wonder if it's on the Govt sized guns?

Yes. They come on both Government and Commander sized slides.

They’re probably waiting to either build hype or see how sales perform on the lower end models. Believe me, if the 4.25” CC came with an RDO cut, I’d be at my LGS ordering one by now!

Likely delaying for a promotion down the road. Once they released the prodigy they could have started releasing optic cut 1911 they took long to do so.

@@WayneOldham210I have the same question. All I can find on the web, is that it’s likely hand fitted so better build quality compared to the production models built in bulk. I haven’t seen any comparison against WC,EB,DW etc. it would be fascinating since those 1911 easily go over 2k into 3k+.

Was it comfortable to shoot a 45 in commander size with aluminum frame? I’m happy Springfield came out with this. Looks well thought out. I enjoy my Springfield 1911s.

I have a Smith and Wesson E series SC. Has the aluminum scandium lower. While it’s a great gun( commander size to) it does feel a little snappier, could be me, could be the fact that it’s much lighter than steel 🤷‍♂️ follow ups are a little off compared to when I fire my 5” 1911, but again could be me. Still love it and won’t sell it very pretty gun.

I was a little skeptical - or maybe just curious, about that choice for .45 ACP, but they way the did it was good engineering, and it does not seem to cause any issues. I am not a top authority on the design elements, but I understand some of the concerns and I think Springfield got it right.

@@unitedwestanddividedwefall3521 I prefer tool less takedown. If you wear it out, you can replace it. If there is poor accuracy, a better fitting bushing may improve things. I fit a bushing to my Citadel, and it is more accurate than my TRP. Still kind of ticked about that! Not to mention purist.

No reason they don’t release them optics ready years ago they just want to sell more and make people buy twice but also that optic system is dumb I am going to Send my operator to get optic cut and it will use the Trijicon plate system with the built in iron sight (No screws to go flying off)

The AOS system is terrible. Requires permanent thread locker to keep the plate attached which sucks. Also the standard rear sight gets loose at the time unles you use permanent thread locker.

In this day and age a .45 caliber single stack is nothing more than a range toy.

But yet if you go to the KZbin channel, Police Activity, you see many police officers choosing not to carry 9mm Glocks but instead .45 caliber 1911s. Just because the internet crowd says the “1911 is outdated” it doesn’t really make it so. Carry what you want but know there is a trade off with everything

There was a time soon after the Springfield Operator was released, a couple of years ago, when you couldn’t find that particular model on the shelves. It was because police were buying them up.

Anyone who doesn’t see the 5” 1911 45 as a viable defense tool isn’t knowledgeable about pistols…I personally am a fan of the new guns and added capacity but calling anything with the track record of the 1911 a range toy is simply obtuse…

I pretty much exclusively carry double stack 1911s and I'll disagree with that. Single stacks are completely viable. Modern 8 rounders plus extended 10 rounders or 15 rounders for reloads make for a very slim to carry gun and magazines but still totally reasonable capacity (and youd get even more with a 9mm or 38 super 1911). I love my double stack 1911s but there's nothing wrong with a single stacks and I plan on getting a single stack soon and I will most definitely carry it too just as I do my double stacks.
