Personally, I can’t stand 3 dot sights. Give me a bright front sight and blacked-out rear. Night sights are negligible if a light is used. Both are nice looking pistols that I wouldn’t kick out of my gun safe, but the Dan Wesson looks like the winner.

Either one you get, change extractor to a Aftec extractor, I put in a tool less guide rod. I carry it for duty for the last 12 years on patrol. I recently had it milled for a red dot by Vulcan machine werks. Thy did a great job. Only my option of course. Great video.

Excellent video from one of the best. Hands down it's DW for me. Love SA but currently own a DW Specialist commander in duty coat and it's been a gem. Also the Dan Wessons have all tool steel internals and thumb safeties. They use zero mim. For a price point like these models that matters to me. Cannot beat SA lifetime warranty either. Both are great and will out last us all and our kids and grandkids. Really can't go wrong with either. Two phenomenal companies.

I'm impressed with your empty gun trigger pull. Rock steady. When mine doesn't lock back , mostly because of my grip hitting the slide release , and I pull on an empty mag. I can really see my flinch.

Good review of both and good shooting. Do not own either of those but own two of both brands. My two Springfield’s were both new, range officer target needed a trigger job, ronin was fine. Both very dependable. The two dan Wesson’s were both used and train wrecks. The 2002 point man needed a lot of work to get operational. The 2021 very slightly used valor v-bob needed a lot of rounds thru it to identify and repair the ftf issues. Dan Wesson was of no help but I can see their point that I was not the original purchaser.

I just got the SA emissary black 4.25” and really like it, except for the plastic trigger. They did the trigger very well for a plastic one but had I known it was so I probably wouldn’t have bought it. As far as those 2 you’re comparing I’d got DW over SA for everything except the full rail trp,because that thing is a beast.

I disagree, these are 45auto pistols, for Concealed Carry mostly. Large and heavy pistol as it is, I wouldn't add weight or bulk beyond a tac light. The railed frame already adds weight. I don't know that I'd ever find the benefit of an optical on a single stack steel carry 45

I don't have any Dan Wessons, but I do have a TRP Operator in 10mm. I would have to give one a try to tell a preference, but I do have a 10mm Fusion Combat Commander and I much prefer the Fusion trigger over the TRP myself.
@traeucity60879 ай бұрын
For me, the only advantage to tritium sights is that in the dark, they help me to locate the pistol and it's orientation while on my nightstand. Night time means there is a light on my defensive pistol. Tritium sights are a non-factor on a pistol with a weapons light. They wash out with the brightness of the weapons light, they are not needed when the lights are turned on and they could give away your position in the dark. The only things I found favorable about the TRP was the 4.25" barrel and the standard guide rod. I truly dislike having to put a doohickey in the guide rod in order to field strip the gun.
@troyspurling19109 ай бұрын

As usual Great job. I am a Dan Wesson guy but in this case I like the GI style Guide rod, Hate a plastic trigger and 20 LPI. I also prefer a single thumb safety. Think they are both series 70? Think I have talked my self into the Dan Wesson but in the Classic commander (not shown in this video) All of my Dan Wesson 1911s are fantastic and in this case The TCP strays a little to far from tradition. I do own Springfields and love them once I have the replacement parts installed. Plastic triggers are taking MIM parts to the next level. I don't think my Des have any MIMs.

My comment is more on a couple of the comments below than the video. Trigger, lighter is always going to shoot better. My Ronin is slightly under 3lbs with factory parts so I suspect with a few more rounds fired or a gentle massage the Springfield would be a match in that regard. As to conical lock up vs bushing, well, bushings can be replaced. Guide rod is really just a matter of preference. A few years ago everyone was dumping their full length rods for GI style because they're completely toolless. Grips I expect to change to taste anyway. I love my custom 20lpi but my hands are tough. Triggers. My Stacatto has a plastic trigger and I've never heard anyone complain. I do prefer a curved trigger even though that's not the new vogue. It insures your finger finds the middle exactly the same every time and every gun. It makes zero practical difference with a straight pull trigger so you do you. Makes a bigger difference with a hinged trigger.

Both are amazing builds, but imo the DW would be the winner, but pricier. I will always keep a 1911 ish .45acp single stack just because...but if I am purchasing in 2024, it would be a 2011 or similar DS or I would not purchase at all. MAC has a very solid double stack option around $1k up to a Bul-Armory for around $2k... I have never been a fan of a ss 1911 style 9mm....waaaay too many better options available.
@thefrogking4818 ай бұрын
One concerning difference (to me anyway) is that the DW uses all steel components, whereas the SA uses MIM pieces. From a durability standpoint the DW should last longer. But let's be honest, most people won't wear out MIM parts. I own pistols from both companies, and they're both quality offerings, but the DW is a better "fit" and machined pistol.

I can't pretend to have any relevant knowledge on this subject, but it is one that is of considerable interest to me. CZUSA was one of the most amazing companies in the industry, not only in terms of products but also incredible staff and industry presence. For months now, I can't even get them to respond to me when I reach out because I have an assignment to review one of the products. All the good people seem to have left the company - by their own will or not, I do not know. I have never been a Colt fan due to their cavalier attitude toward the consumer market - and it seems that when you bring a zombie in from the cold, the expected result occurs.
