Loved seeing this winter video. I have a new level of awe for the amount of underplanting that you do to create that full tropical effect. Hope your oasis did not suffer too badly in the storm. It must have been such a worry for you at the time. Thanks for a super video.

I feel your pain by watching! I had a Cat 2 hurricane a couple of years ago and couldn't bare to watch my newly planted Mule palms get blown around! It's like one of your children!

Glad to see everything survived, albeit with a few less leaves! Very nice to see the garden in the winter too!

Thank you Nicola! It’s rare that I do a winter video as it’s just too messy!😁

Would you please tell me how many "garden rooms" does your garden have it's very confusing I find myself always trying to count your rooms just can't figure it out thank you for making a video stay safe
@Springyfeller4 жыл бұрын
Jessica George Hello Jessica and thank you! I would have to say 6 rooms. We have the patio area, this then leads to the lawn with the stream and small pond, you then cross the stone bridge onto another lawn area which has a different feeling to the previous lawn. From this lawn you have three options as to where to go 1: You can then turn right and step down into the gravel area by the pond where you can sit. 2: go straight on and it leads you down a curved path that eventually takes you to a circle of gravel where you have a water feature of overflowing Bali bowls and a circular wooden ‘pergola’. 3: You can go left down a path that takes you to the circular gravel area OR if you bear to the left it takes you to the jungle hut. So to recap, you have the patio, lawn one, lawn two, the pond area, the circle of stone area and finally the jungle hut. The paths to link each area have a different ‘feel’ to them so even they could be classed as their own rooms I guess. It may help to watch the Gardeners World feature of the garden with Adam Frost. The only bit I’ve added since that was filmed is the jungle hut area. ( it was a potting shed and composting area when filming took place) Fast forward to about 38 minutes into the programme to see the feature. I hope this helps! Please be safe too!! dai.ly/x73qlom

Jessica George The link I added will show the Gardeners World feature. There is no link to it on KZbin as the BBC remove them. 🙃

Can you draw out the shape of the paths and items in the garden?
@Springyfeller4 жыл бұрын
Lisa Rusczyk Vlogs I’m sorry Lisa, I’m not sure that I’m able to do that now but you can see roughly how the layout is from this link to the garden when I first started creating it. www.hardytropicals.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=135&t=15027

Really love your garden, I think would be cool to add more evergreens, not too formal and popular, for example Illiciums, Sakaki, hardy Lomatias, Daphniphyllum (e.g. humilie), Drimys (both), rare Pittosporums, Grevillea victoriae... But even in winter time - garden is very impressive and interesting. Nice to see hardy Manihot, I will try to buy one this year. Greeting from Moscow!
@Springyfeller4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Roman. The trouble is that if I put too many evergreens in I won’t have space for all the other things I like to grow. Plus any future ‘must have’ plants on my wish list! I enjoyed watching your recent garden video on GOTE!👍

Thanks Sylvia. There will be a few damaged leaves to remove in spring but I usually do that anyway due to snow/frost damage.
