Ryan Litt during qualifying, Oct. 1/11 at Bristol Motor Speedway. This lap was a 13.02 at 148mph, good enough for 3rd position.

@sanfranciscobay - Only a tach is used. No speedos. We basically set the gear ratio and aim to get the car to a certain RPM (usually 7800-8300). From there it is just feel.

what I like about this video most is that when you hear and see the car going past while the camera is sitting in the pits, it actually captures just how fast these things are !!

heh lightest cars with the highest horsepower and highest downforce and simplest set up but yea its hauling barely lifting, its said they will reach 195 briefly on the straight at eldora and I heard more then one person tell me that.

the NASCAR mods are a whole lot more exciting to watch than Sprint Cup. Hell, anything at a local track on a Friday or Saturday night is more interesting than Sprint Cup.

of course thats the reason!, this is like a cup car in fast forward... this puts cup racing to shame now if they could just do an all open wheel even at richmond RIR with winged Spring cars, ISMA supermodifieds, and ROC and Nascar modifieds under the lights that would be a race fans dream come true..

How big is the track? That's pretty crazy driving. Just go faster and faster trying to find the perfect speed faster than others but safe enough to prevent a spin out. Do they use the speedometer or tackometer to tell them what speed they should be going on certain parts of the track or is it done by feel???

no speedometer in a sprint, no need they are focused on driving though the new cameras and go pro's have telemetry so it gives them a good idea how fast they are getting going should they have one on that has the option, but I belive they run about 9000 rpms a 410 really is a beast, I have seen on video on tmez's channel the one new engine was putting out 950 hp, another artical of a speedway motors one put out 948, with 750 ft lbs of torque it hauls the mail its getting all that power to the wheels and to the ground.

you can race on Bristol in a lower class car like super-stock, Rockingham and Kentucky motor speedway too. Check out the Kimmel Series, Frank Kimmel runs it, nine time ARCA Champ. Search Kimmel series on youtube.
