Thanks for covering short course racers as well, not every triathlete wants or desires to do a half or a full... like me 😀😎😃.

Good video, and great point about how long it takes to build speed. I would take issue with a couple of things (like 80/20 being a good idea universally, meaning also in a 6 HR/week sprint training regime), but there are just so many useful bits of info here. Now, where's Grace? Her appearance boosts the number of impressions by up to 18%, according to U.S. scientists.

Great stuff! Having seen you doing kettlebell swings I have the impression you are letting the kettlebell’s weight to close your chest (shoulders going forward). When you do the setup for the swing, just as for deadlift, you should retract your shoulders and then they should keep in this position during the whole swing. Injury risk apart, letting your shoulders go forward, following the kettlebell, you don’t recruit that many upper back muscles as you could with correct form. So less profit from the very same number of swings.

Hi from France I'm 100% into that 80/20 routine (the eponymous book is a good entry point in that training mindset). However, my clubmates hate me when I have them run for as long as 90-120 minutes in Z1/Z2😈 for example that's what we do when training for our 70.3s. Come spring and the first races, they realize that they can finally run... Once again I'm on the same page as you. One last thing: I want some snow too! Fed up with strong winds coming from the sea ( and from UK too😜)

Nice vid Taren, good basic advise for anyone building a training plan next year for short or long distance racing, weather in the U.K. is not that great at this time of year, but I do feel for you with all that snow and freezing temperatures, good job you have a cool paincave 😊

Great video. This sums up everything I've read in a nice coherent logical way that makes sense to the average age grouper with limited time. Thanks!

11:32 I am a bit confused with your definition of zone 4. Isn't it that one can sustain for up to an hour at anaerobic/lactate threshold pace?

Thanks, Taren, for all of this. Just met your work when I'm slowly transitioning from running to triathlon. Your videos are awesome! One doubt. You say speed work is important for fat burning, but also that zone 2 is paramount for use of fat as fuel. With that in mind, would it be fair to say that for those that wanna lose fat the type of workout (zone 2 X speed/high intensity) is not actually relevant, since both promote it?

For the endurance swim distances are those continuous distances or cumulative sets and would you do them in a pool or as open water sessions?

Oh, another show idea... duathlons... where for folks like me who are only so-so swimmers the odds are more even. Maybe you've already done it showing to duathlons but didn't see it in the archive.
