Awesome and thanks for sharing. You saved me a headache. I was about to continue cubbies but am now going to do so many more drawers.

Nice job. IMO better than the Paulk copies that have tools rattling in cubbies and a weird workbench end with lots of wasted space. I'm finishing up a tool trailer project, similar to yours mostly with shelves and a few drawers. No cubbies. Yours may be a tad on the messy side but is still light years ahead of where I was operating out of the back of the truck bed. It's easy to forget the whole point of these is to get all the tools to the project, not have them neatly sitting in the van/trailer.

Heck yeah man, it’s not always pretty, and I’ve been working for years to figure out how to be efficient. Its a long learning process but I’ve come a long way from working out of the bed of a truck too 👊🏼 Thanks for watching!

Nice ride. One question, would you consider those drawers organized?

Thanks! It’s more organized with the drawers than without, that’s for sure 🤣

I'm thinking about going to a van from a truck...just wondering if the Mercedes is a good, dependable, affordable van? IE mileage, oil changes, comfort, etc?
@realdanbuildsit5 жыл бұрын
The sprinter has its advantages and disadvantages. In my opinion the sprinter is hard to beat, but there are some things about it that would be bad if you don’t or can’t work on it yourself. The oil changes are expensive (like $4-500) at the dealer, but you can do it yourself for $100, every 10k miles or so. The diesel emissions stuff has a 100k mike warranty, but after that it gets pricy to fix when it breaks. I’ve been fortunate and have saved a lot by doing repairs myself. Had a turbo failure at 142k that I was able to fix for $200, and a couple other small repairs that cost less than that. Each of the 3 or 4 little problems would have cost multiple thousands at the dealer though. My advice is to either buy new and trade it before 100k if you can afford that route, or buy used and do your own repairs.

I forgot to mention, it’s very comfortable, mine is a 2010 with the 3.0 diesel and gets 18.5 MPG consistently

I see this video is two years old but I would definitely line the walls and doors with thin plywood before I put anything in that van. I have seen vans that did not and it is not long before the outside looks like someone tried to beat their way out from the inside with a hammer. It looks like crap and really hurts the resale value. Nice van though, for now.

That’s definitely a good idea! I haven’t had any trouble with dents personally but I definitely agree that plywood would be better than no plywood. For me it’s a balance of time/expense/value. Maybe next time I do this I will be in a better position to spend more time and money. Thanks for commenting! 👊🏼

The mitre saw always give the most hassle for van storage
@realdanbuildsit6 жыл бұрын
Me too! I use mine so much that I keep it on the rolling stand all the time. That way I never have to pick it up or carry it.
@whitacrebespoke6 жыл бұрын
I have to carry my big one as still got the old dewalt stand. I’ve just brought a 216mm one for second fix work need more racks in the van and that will live in there. The big one only goes if I need it now as brought a Mafell KSS saw far easier to cart about for first fix.

How do you get the drawers to stop when opening them without them coming all the way out?
@realdanbuildsit4 жыл бұрын
joehumrob you just stop pulling them before they come all the way out. It’s actually pretty intuitive and I’ve only accidentally pulled one out once I think.

I'm really sure you can build it yourself. I did this 2 weeks ago thanks to the Woodglut plans.
