I plan racking a van with a compositing toilet since I'm not a professional carpenter I am just a diy guy but I deliver mail and I cant always stop to drive 4 miles into town. You gave me some ideas cheers from Alabama USA.
@wolfiesmith7674 Жыл бұрын
Racked a few vans out over the years and one thing I always do is create a false floor. In my current hi cube transit custom the floor is about 12” depth split into 3 levels. Bottom level is divided into sections for storage of different lengths of timber (skirts, floor boards, 3x2, mop stick etc) and is similar to your level storage idea where as the dividers are shorter nearest the side door so as I can flick out any shorter lengths that migrate to the bulkhead. Middle level is for full 8x4 sheets of ply/OSB and top level is for upvc trim, cabinet end panels etc. This system allows me to have plenty of spare materials in the floor + racking either side of the van and still have room to carry a few doors/sheets etc in between the racks. One thing I will say is that no matter how much I plan my racking, it constantly evolves as my work changes and different tools come and go and I’m currently head scratching about how I can incorporate a slide out work bench into my false floor 😁

Looking forward to doing a proper racking job once I upgrade to a larger transit. I've been making do with just the big void in my Peugeot Partner for nearly a year, but it's a nightmare trying to find tools and materials when it gets horribly cluttered. And it wastes time and money with trying to find my gear or buying duplicate materials because they are never to hand. But for the time being I'm going to make do with some very basic racking in my crappy little transit.

Van racking looking great! Would be nice to see some dust extraction out the front for your neighbor's benefit. What really surprised me was paying £24 for 2 tubes of adhesive - it might be worth bulk buying multiple tubes at a time for discount i.e 12 tubes stixall £45ish and saves time as you have them on hand when needed 👍🏻 subscribed to your new channel 🔨

A little talking works better than none at all. Information on what your doing with sizes and fixing types is good too. What size ply did you use for the racking? You mentioned 6mm for the floor. The fails at the end was a good touch too..👌
@Lifesmiles24 Жыл бұрын
Carpentry is an amazing skill to watch, I would set cameras in the room of work at higher locations plus add a little more lighting, at the start of the project do a signature start for video something that is you which creates a trend for yourself. Include more long Timelapse’s with intermediate breaks where you narrate where you are at that stage. The more raw the video is in regards to how live it can feel the better so making mistakes and showing them allows people to relate to you which creates a personal investment for those watching. I would also recommend including something which you do in each video that’s unique which is possibly controversial to build discussion between the videos also !! Generally think your doing an amazing job so keep it up fella !!
@ValgniTehki Жыл бұрын
I actually think it's better when you talk throughout. I understand you have a day job, and the fact that it can be a lot of work putting videos together, but maybe talk through some of the shorter videos. Either way, I will still watch your videos. Great design/build of the storage rack too.
