Sprinting Smarter, Speed Progression available now! outperformsports.com/product/...
A COMPLETE SPRINT TRAINING AND SPEED DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
Progress doesn’t automatically come with hours on the track, reps in the weight room or even an unrelenting desire for success. Continued progress is the result of practicing the right things with the right timing, intensity and focus for each individual athlete. This course has been optimized around providing coaches and athletes with the latest tools and sprinting wisdom to address each of these areas to progress to an entirely new level of speed and performance.
LEARNING, DEVELOPING, AND FINE-TUNING SPRINTING TECHNIQUE
Proper sprinting form is the foundation of speed. This is why Coach Harnden provides a complete head-to-toe breakdown of sprinting technique. You’ll learn the posture and body positions required to produce maximum acceleration and top-end speed. You’ll also learn more advanced concepts such as refining the phases of the sprint, low heel recovery, fine-tuning block setups and more.
UNDERSTANDING AND CHOOSING THE DRILLS THAT WILL RESULT IN THE BIGGEST PERFORMANCE GAINS
There is no shortage of sprinting drills that coaches and athletes can include in their training. The challenge becomes selecting the right mix of drills that target the most important elements of speed development and performing them correctly. The sprinting drills that have been chosen for this course have proven to produce the biggest performance gains and work systematically with the technical instruction and training routines.
DEVELOPING EFFECTIVE SPRINT TRAINING ROUTINES
This is where it all comes together. Two-time Olympian Ken Harnden shares the philosophies and training plans that have led to 6 sub-10 100M runners, 25 NCAA champions and 14 Olympians. You’ll get everything you need to build an annual training plan that can be customized for each individual athlete.

Yes, the sprinting concepts and many of the drills would be very beneficial. Coach Harnden identifies the drills that are more advanced athletes in the course. The training plan would need to be adjusted to reduce volume and intensity.

In this same channel one coach told that arms should be free to create force production but now this coach is telling that 90°. Full confusion. Help me
@DeliVan
@DeliVan 3 жыл бұрын
Both coaches are actually on the same page. Coach Karim explained the importance of not forcing the arm to stay at a 90-degree angle passing the hips as this is what generates the reactive force of the arm swing. Coach Harnden expresses the importance of bringing that arm back to a 90-degree angle in the back so the arm can move faster through the recovery phase of the arm swing.
@OutperformOfficial
@OutperformOfficial 3 жыл бұрын
Hello Parateek, thanks for your question. Arm action is largely a function of strength. Typically sprinters will start with less than 90° and may even extend all the way straight in the first few steps. As sprinters increase their strength the angle will get closer to 90 as a bent arm can move quicker than a straight arm and create more power. With that being said, there are also individual preferences with arm action. It's good to experiment and figure out what works best for you.

Hi guys, I'm starting out on sprinting as a hobby, I'm no athlete whatsoever just want to learn proper technique and improve over time. Is this course suitable for beginners? Thank you.
@OutperformOfficial
@OutperformOfficial 3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. The course begins with the fundamentals of sprinting technique and gradually builds to more advanced concepts. Since you won't be competing you won't have to dial in your training phases to peak for a competition. However, following the general progression will be very helpful as you will build a foundation (proper mechanics and habits) and can start adding in more of the drills and speed work as you improve over time. You'll learn how to adjust the sample workouts to fit your goals as coach Harnden really does a great job of explaining the 'why' not just the 'what' and 'how.'

@OutperformOfficial
@OutperformOfficial 3 жыл бұрын
Short answer is yes. Mechanics, drills, warm-up is going to be very similar however pacing obviously comes into play vs 100m. Also you need to spend more time developing the aerobic engine and longer intervals. Especially when you move up to the 400m. We made a video on the difference between 400m and 100m that might be helpful kzbin.info/www/bejne/n4GwioKpiNWnqMU

Hi guys! So, I competed in the Olympic games in Track and Field. Here's what I found out during my training: You actually want to put your strong leg in the back, and your weaker leg in the front. The leg at 90° in the front is not going to be able to push as hard as the leg in the back that should be at 120°; the angle that has the most explosive capacity 120°. Once that back leg gets the body moving the front leg will no longer be at 90°. As it opens up to 120 you are now more explosive, and now you will be landing on your stronger leg -which was behind you to begin with. This is a stable landing. This concept is much more efficient than using the front leg to push.
@OutperformOfficial
@OutperformOfficial 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Wyndell, thanks for sharing! All 3 of the people in this video competed in the Olympic games as well. A big push with the back leg typically results in a slower first step and puts the hips in a sub optimal position. Really interesting to hear that you've had success with the opposite approach.
