I specialized in the 800m and 3200 meter relay (4 by 8) in highschool... and i think the 800 is worse or just as difficult... the 400 is only 1 lap and often times with the 800 your going at a similar pace... and if you go out too fast in the 800m... you got a whole other lap to finish... and your legs/lower body is going to burn just as bad is in the 400.. except you have to deal with it longer.

Yeah, why should we care about anatomy, right? Finally after evolution gave human heel dampened running shoes, we can run our bodys at full potential...

Longer legs have *both* an advantage and a disadvantage. The advantage of longer legs is that you can run the same speed with a lower stepfrequency and less effort (higher efficiency) so that you get less tired.... The disadvantage is that longer legs have longer levers, wich makes you less explosive. In other words: a runner with longer legs will be a bit slower from the starting block.

The wrost thing of about 400m is the off season workout its like hell when you do 200-300 rep with less recovery 😢😭😰🥵 sometimes gets mind thought leave the 400m event 😤

Where do ‘fast legs’ even come in handy then?

The first clip comparing the two running is so misleading, I bet the fastest guy from back in the day didn't run like that when he set a record.

I once run a 400m in my school's sports day. My internal engines died at the corner of death. I was running on fumes at the end and immediately collapsed after finishing

I, a pure beginner, once ran a 400 without any practise and after two hundred, my legs were toast. Literally, I felt like running through water.

Never felt like the 400m hurt as bad as the 800m personally. The 400m was always quite easy only hurt 150m left and only last 70m was hell.

If you run the 800 the 400 is easy

quick real answer : not it is not, because me (a random guy on the internet) can do it, whereas I cannot do marathon, ironman, ultra trail... like a lot of people.

You develop this technique through drills, by training your muscles and nervous system to perform the correct movement without thinking about it. Check out this video for more in-depth explanation kzbin.info/www/bejne/e2qQh36vrt2VeKc

Pop-ups can be super distracting. Focusing on tuning them out will definitely help improve your concentration during the meet. Keeping your mind clear and blocking out distractions is key for staying in the zone. 👊

Great but if you notice his back right foot, it's just moving forward. zits just there to be there. To have an even more explosive start really generate a ton of power with the back foot at first to blast off.
