@@natebrook agree in certain aspects. But this is not correct for everything. For example just because lots of people in the U.K. have a German luxury car (Mercedes, Audi, BMW) doesn’t mean you should too. For clarity I’m not talking about people with low or middle incomes. Most of them are just trying to get by, but for those who have a choice, it’s not worth spending beyond your means.

@@pratosaurusrex1128 It seems many people with those cars have one because they don't have the salary to afford a nice property. If you can't get a house without saving for 20 years, it seems pointless, and many people are in that situation these days because you need such high deposits/salaries for property. People instead splash out on things like cars, tvs etc. Also cars show outward wealth, so people get one because of that too (even though really, they often have a lot less in overall assets and house/mortgage etc).

“Make sure your lifestyle is always one step below your income.” This is such great advice. So many people want to live above their means. I don’t know if it’s their way of coping with how hard life is, but living life by spending below your means is how you save money. Regardless of whether you’re starting a family or not, in the long run this will help you so much. I remember my mom telling me the same thing when I was younger. She has always shopped when there were big sales, used so many coupons and lived below her means. She’s so smart with her money and I admire her for that.

@divadivine5571 🤔 From what I have observed, the people who hesitate usually feel that they haven't accomplished something or they're lacking something by that age; it's not about their physical looks. @@abdullahaanawaleh You are correct. Birthrates are very low and there is an ageing population. Also, Hong Kong women have unreasonably high expectations from men due to their spoiled upbringing (Hong Kong princess syndrome, you can google it.). So they struggle to find anyone they want to date and marry. But it is changing as Hong Kong is being repopulated with young families from Mainland China.

Y'know, I thought this was going to be something stupid like "follow your dreams" or "find your passion" but this is actually very solid life advice. Lots of people even on high salaries live paycheck to paycheck and so have no freedom. By keeping "your expenses one step below your income" you're neither depriving yourself of life's pleasures, but you're also putting aside enough $$$ to give you a secure and free life without having to worry about going broke if you lose your job.
