She is going to live a long and lonely life if she doesn't live for more than herself. Helping others, being of service, being here for more than hedonistic pleasures gives life deepness. She's still a kid at 26... the long expanse of her life is still before her.

Because saying I'm independent and everything should be on my terms because I don't owe anyone anything is a typical inexperienced 26 year old thing to say. As a 26 year old father of one son so far, I’ve realized I want my son to look at life as she does. He doesn’t need to struggle, nor witness the bad. Only the good, then I hope his children have it even better. Work is no longer work, it’s just something that needs done. Being 26, to me, is when light bulbs are clicking yet I’m cleaning up the messes from 18-25. All in all it’s a joy and I love life. Could be better, could be helluva lot worse.

@@manuelr1079 shit, the best advice I got right now is Stay away from alcohol, if you can’t drink in moderation trust me your not missing out Credit.Credit.Credit. Rich folk stay rich because they don’t spend their own money for shit. If your score is high great. If you don’t even know it’s probably ass and you NEED a secured credit card and you need one yesterday. Your friends, ain’t. I’m not saying they bad people but they fade with the seasons. Appreciate it while it’s there but don’t keep it going “for old times sake” Don’t look for the highest paying job. You can be check to check but you WILL figure it out. Look for what makes you happy, if I was to ask you right now “what is your passion” and you hesitate even a second. You haven’t found it and you need to, take your time no rush. If your in college, military, families house whatever. Understand the plan you got now is beyond fucked and it’s gonna change quite a bit. Accept the challenges when life gets hard, be grateful for them. Learn from them. Life has a funny way of doing the same bullshit to you until you say “aiight that’s quite enough” Have fun.

Point of correction: we owe to the people that raised us, to God and our community. There's nothing wrong with living life well but knowing we owe to others makes us strive for selfless excellence. We all have to stand on someone's shoulder or lean on them to be where we are. We should give back by doing same ...... We actually rise higher by considering others. Staying down to earth is a metaphor!

@@tobiaschurch8848 The world was always selfish. That is no reason for someone not to love themselves. Too many people allow others to dictate their lives. We cannot give to others from an empty cup. The one thing I struggled with growing up was trusting my gut. I had a lot of anxiety growing up and it was difficult to determine whether my fears were rational and irrational. I learning that anxiety is a symptom of a Traumatic upbringing and learning that I had to manage myself and learn to put myself in the best situations where I’m more mentally healthy and clear (eating healthy, being around a good environment with good people, etc) but also that these mental health issues is a response to something so if you feel like something Is off, trust it, even if you are wrong. It’s good to trust yourself as when things don’t feel right, it’s never gonna get better the more you ignore it.

Im amongst those who wasn’t dealt a privileged set of cards and life was hard- but one thing I have learnt, is the negative mindset is the killer- getting upset at things like this is what kills dreams and progress, find the good take the lesson and try to step forward. Having this negative view and opinion keeps you In the same place . It can be annoying to hear those who are privileged give advice (not assuming she is) but remember, those in privileged positions a lot of the time have a privilege, knowledge, mindsets and skill set that less fortunate ones didn’t have access to, which we can take advantage of an learn from??? Yeah it’s easier to listen to someone who relates- but at the end of the day my biggest help was to just find value and a lesson in each and every person no matter the background

We have to remember that each and every one of us struggles differently and at different stages in our lives. The issue with a lot of the comments here is people are comparing themselves to her. The worst thing you can do to yourself is compare yourself to others. The best approach is comparing yourself to yourself. She's too wise to be saying all that stuff in her mid twenties. I barely learned that in my early 30s after becoming homeless. My best piece of advice from a 35 year old is take chances and don't be scared of loosing everything, be free like a bird man! Don't waste your youth being responsible, have fun and you can fix your life in your 30s and beyond. Make mistakes, drink too much, get fired, quit some jobs, tell the boss to fuck off. Live your fucken life to the fullest! Life is too short to care what others think. Like I said be free and fix your life in your 30s, because you're only young once don't waste it being scared.

While I admire how ‘together’ she seems at such a young age, I’d like to offer an alternative view on her claim that we all have the same 24 hours to make use of. Unfortunately, society doesn’t offer everyone equal freedom to pursue our full potential. Variations in education, finances, support systems, gender, race, sexual preference and physical and mental abilities etc mean that not everyone is as empowered as the next to make the most of each day. Hopefully she will broaden her mindset to realise this as she matures.

True. I was financially supported by my parents until I was 23. Long story short when I was 23 something happened that was out of everyone's control and I lost that financial support from my parents. I was in a bad spot. I had a college degree but I had chosen the wrong degree and the wrong career. I had very little money to my name. My job paid little and was unstable. I had ambitions to change my circumstances and to do so independently. I followed through on those ambitions and was successful BUT it was a HUNDRED times harder than it had been back when I had my parents' support. Also I can't say for sure that I could've done it without the privilege of 23 years with financial support, not to mention a lot of emotional and psychological and other types of support. Despite the bad immediate circumstances I still had a leg up.

She definitely is "privileged" in one way or the other, she has a foreign accent, I would guess she is from the former USSR, maybe its Middle-Asian part. Over there those who have an opportunity to study in the West or move there usually come from rather affluent families. At the same time her English is very good which signifies doing her undergrad in the US, and it's very expensive for foreign students (they are not eligible for instate tuition, financial aid, etc.) Also, it's a big deal for women of a more traditional cultural background to be able to curb social expectations of a more traditional society and experience the Western liberties. But hey, that's what life is, wouldn't you provide your child with better starting conditions if you had a chance? I most certainly would. At least she was talented and hard working enough to learn English and succeed in her education, that counts for something.
