Should make a little video (10 things to do with log caps after the lumber is dried). Half the list involves fire XD

Good work, hard work, George! I'm always feel some regret cutting down wide boards, like the 17 inchers you were getting, into smaller boards.

I know the feeling but I seem to always end up with big logs lol... I have 20" wide spalted maple air drying.

Hey George we have a lot of spruce pine and fir out west and those big logs get heavy to move around for sure. Nice stack of wood in the end!

I have a 40" pine x 16ft that I need to get home and saw up. That one is gonna be some work. Also have a 44" maple here... Good stuff coming.

never sawed Spruce before

Hey Nathan, None of the mills here like to cut it because it goes wavy if you saw fast. It's pretty wood, not sticky like pine.
@fricknjeep5 ай бұрын
hi there i see you cut some nice size logs as well . another one man band . question why do band sawyers turn the log 90 instead 180 . most the time ,180 would put a flat then when you slab the top it should be perfect, also it would balance the log more .then on the 3rd cut you would be cutting into bark free wood witch save the blade more . good sawing anyway ,best to all john
@mcsawmill5 ай бұрын
It depends on the log, when turning it and I get to 90, if the log seems happy I cut it there, if it's not happy I go to 180.

Knot easy should use that for a video title lol...

Can you use spruce for flooring? I love those wide boards. Would look great in a rustic cabin.
@mcsawmill5 ай бұрын
I don't see why not, folks make decks from pine or fir which are just as soft.

Nice work! Got the pyth dead center! I noticed the cross member on the trailer is bent… just to the left of center when you milling the cants … I saw it from opposite the operator side. Great music! What’s the plan for the material? Do you have kiln??
@mcsawmill5 ай бұрын
the guy who helped me build my sawmill shed is building a fence with the boards. Building a kiln this summer hopefully. Yes the cross member with the taillights is bent, seems I'm dangerous when backing up... Your video with the 136max, told a friend about it and he ordered the roller log dogs for his 130max, he says thanks!

Nice chunk of Spruce! Still milling fence boards? How many acres is he enclosing? Swamp Sawyer just posted a video of some crazy colored cherry.

He needs 250 of the 1x6 and I'm helping Nate and Austin saw 300 spruce 1x8 so probably be more of this type vids but I'll break them up.

I am not sure why you are not wearing PPE, a pair of ear muffs and a respirator would be the absolute minimum where I live. Take care.
