Thank you! Yeah, I like nice looking acropora like most other stick heads, but this tank was always meant for beginner type sps. It has changed a lot over the years as I frag it out, but it is my favorite reef display. I will incorporate what I learned from this tank into my dream tank in a year or two. Happy Reefing!😁

It’s really crazy how much light is required for acropora. I have a xr30 with a xho reefbrite fixture attached over my nano tank, and I have trouble getting the par over 200. I think if I turned all the channels up and cranked it to 100 percent, it would push a little more. I recently added a blue tort and it’s slowly turning green and I know it’s from the lower par. Thanks for showing your tank up close. I always thought your green pavona was hyndophora.

Yeah, it's really fun to change the colors in acros. I have the best luck by increasing flow with the lighting. I think it has something to do with oxygen exchange. But they definitely revert to green or Brown when the light is lower. I'm still Messing around with my camera settings, but I think I will be shooting in 4k from now on. You probably have the schedule intensity lower which is different than the point intensity. Took me 6 months to figure that out.

Pocillopora acts just like Kenya tree corals for me, just popping up any and everywhere. I have one small piece that I am going to move to my nano tank.

Yeah it seems to popup where it wants, but doesn't grow out too fast for me. I usually let it grow for a few months to a fraggable size, then snip it off the rock. Very nice looking coral though. Thanks for sharing!

How do you keep nitrates and phosphates so high? Lots of feeding?

I only feed once every other day. I feed flake food though, and that may be why. I do a 40% monthly water change to keep them down. I used to have problems with 0 nutrients so I added more fish.

So How would you know the optimal flow rate Per type of Corral ? Askin for a friend

I wish flow in the tank could be easily measured, but there are no portable devices that measure in tank flow, just flow meters for the return pump. It's pretty much from experience.

Ah man! I'm sorry to hear that! I would definitely do so if I could ship coral. Unfortunately I cannot ship because of my work hours and the cutoff time at the shipping hub. But I highly recommend local Facebook groups and Reef2Reef. I hope things turn around for you! Take care!

Think your calcium is Kinda on the high side think it Should be 399 ppm , I’m a pro 👍
