SPT-AKI | The Big 3 - Tarkov Realism Mod Settings and Why I Use Them

Welcome back!
Today, we're taking the first pass at the all new Realism Mod for SPT-AKI 3.8.0! This is the first in a series all about the Big 3 (Realism Mod, SAIN, and Donuts) to dive as deeply as we can into their in-game mechanics.

This video omits any and all applications of the Realism Mod outside of the game to protect it from being struck down, as other videos have been. The mod has numerous features that apply to the Traders, Flea Market, and time/money mechanics controlled with a desktop tool, which I am not able to demonstrate publicly on KZbin. We will be discussing these in future videos, but won't be showing footage until certain that it's safe to do so.

The only thing I really had hoped to learn is whether I can download Realism and use the stances and basically nothing else, at least at first. I appreciate how much work has gone into redesigning all the systems, but I'm honestly just not sure I want to re-learn Tarkov so extensively. But those weapon stances are badass.

I just got bodied 0-6 death streak on Ground Zero with the Realism Medical system. Got to the point I ran out of any potentially useful meds in either my stash or on Therapist, so removed it for now. I recall in 3.7.x there was a Realism starting preset with the added med items. Might be a mod conflict blocking it since I could only select the EFT and SPT default starts?

I'm glad you enjoy my videos! Oh yeah, you can configure all that stuff in the external Realism Mod config tool, it's in the mod folder. Make a shortcut for it in your main SPT folder for easy access.

My biggest changes with the bepin settings was disabling disarming, disabling gear blocking healing since I play on a controller and didn't want to fit in a bind for it, and tripling the shotgun pump speed, might take it down to 2.5x later. I remember in previous versions idle arm stamina drain was off by default for some reason and I'd have to keep going in to enable it.

@thestarvox Oh, I've always played Tarkov on a controller since I started back in late 2017, for a long time I played on a Steam Controller but about a year ago I switched to a Flydigi Apex 2 with ReWASD. I often play on a TV and I gotta say, Tarkov looks real nice on the big screen

I think it is by default, but I've moved it to the V key, double press. That made the back button on my mouse the FOV Zoom key. Then the forward button became Swap Shoulders. Honestly, I fight with the keybinds all the time and am never satisfied! I'm starting to think that a mouse and keyboard might be a very old way to control video games now!

Hey man would LOVE if you made a video going in-depth about how to change bot spawns and their gear🙏🏽 I’m lvl 12 and for the past few raids I’ve been killing lvl30+ PMC bots with high gear loot and I thought realism was suppose to get bots my lvl? That's the BepInEx menu and it's built into SPT - it's on the F12 key. Be sure to read the tutorial information on the SP-Tarkov site.

What are your SAIN/Dounts settings because mine have always hit me stupidly hard and 90% of the time get the first shot off. Does the realism mod change their behaviour?

Not as much as SAIN does, in fact SAIN would override those changes. You'll see my configuration for that in this new series for the Big 3.

Using deadzone with the other mods unaligns the sight from the laser. Bullets shoot to the laser but not the sight. It looks cool but is this the proper function?

Yeah - unless there's another offset that I don't know about, it did the same for me. It didn't always pose a problem, but I did eventually get tired of it when recording videos.

Looking forward to Fontaine updating the Recoil and Combat Stance mod which is the same stuff in the Realism mod just taken out and separated. Can't play without them so will have to stick with 3.7.6 until he does :( I use a barter system flee market which conflicts with the Realism mod which is a shame so the separation is a great thing for people.

You could always just disable all of the features that you don't want in the Realism Mod using the external config tool and in-game BepInEx menus!

That animation is the High Ready Sprint Animation, which has a toggle in the F12 menu and you can change your reload speed in a variety of ways, including with the sliders in the Realism Mod F12 menu, once again, or with something like the KMC SVM.

The thing that prevents me from using the realism mod is the Dealers are out of stock all the time and restocks very late and items on the flee are not available either can i fix that?

If you going to review SAIN again - could you show how accurate are SAIN bots on easy/normal/hard presets? My main issue with tarkov bots is their laser like accuracy that kicks in after a second or two of them seeing/firing at you. I could stand 100 meters away and the bot once it takes a few first shots will start to just laser beam me right in to the chest with full auto 7.62 gun. The recoil doesn't exist for them, the struggle to keep aim at a moving target is not a problem for them, they are killing machines. And if you give enough time - even scavs can do this, although it takes them a lot of time to charge the "laser beam" aim. And unless you completely loose them or distract with a grenade - they will keep their accumulated accuracy even after you hide behind cover and reappear in a different spot. I tried to tweak the vanilla SPT bots myself but all i was able to do - was to increase their starting spread, but it only gives me an additional 0.5-1 second before they will get to 100% accuracy. I'm interested if SAIN bots accuracy behaves differently and just how it looks compared to vanilla SPT.

It's very complicated. The middle ground difficulty for sain is something the mod struggles since conception. The default settings turn bots into headshot machines, but dropping 1 tier level difficulty and bots become pretty stupid and slow. The only way to get that middle ground is tweaking every value manually.

Right now i am still continuing my playthrough on the old 3.5.0 SPT so i can't test them myself, but i am going to build a new setup sooner or later, so i am curious. Also does anyone know if SAIN uses it's own values for the bots and ignores the configs from the server database or if it's just uses multipliers to modify them (and thus allowing to set specific values in server files by hand)?

A few of these like the active aim sound amazing but I am too nervous of breaking my game, have around 25 mods already and there isn't quite enough to make me take the risk lol. Also 14:16 happened to me as well.

Realism is super compatible with many other mods and almost all of its features can be configured or toggled entirely, so you might be good to go. I'd say there's less risk than you think, give it a try!

Can someone explain the painkillers on realism and how they work? I swear they don't do anything. I've never taken a pain killer in realism and thought wow what a difference - I can move again or remove tremors. Even taking morphine or AI-2 my guy seems to still moan and groan and behave the same. So what do they do?

Oh yeah, several. I think the most comprehensive and least redundant method would be to use the KMC SVM to adjust your Skill EXP gains and more.

No, unless the mod advises that you start a new profile to avoid errors. Progress in SPT is fluid, however, and you can use mods to adjust your player level, skills, EXP gains, Trader levels, and even the quests - enabling you to restore your progress even if you have to delete your profile information, which can be backup and transferred, of course.

It's all single-player and can't do multiplayer. There are some other mods that can, I think.

You just download the mod you wish to try in the spt workshop (dont forget to check version compability), then extract it to your spt folder, is very simple. Sometimes, mod authors leave a short guide on how to install mods

When you choose a version on your profile in the spt launcher, there will be a new version for the realism mod, if you already have a profile you will need create a new one and pick the realism version

None of it annoys me so, if you feel that way about Realism Mod, you may want to find an alternative. I think Algorithmic Level Progression is up-to-date, I'd have to check.

You can decrease the game's sharpness in the graphics settings or use something like Amand's Graphics or MeowShader to manage it even further!

Dude, you can change what you don't like from the config executable in the mods folder. It's very, very customizable.

Can you randomize how many AI PMCs will be in raid? I wouldn't want a set number. I like how in Tarkov I never know if it'll be a bloodbath with players everywhere, or quiet with me not seeing another pmc the whole time. The anticipation is great.

There are spawning waves configurations, and you can disable or extend the time between them. I guess that feels more or like how you want, but a specific mod the way you want isn't easy to find, unless you can make it yourself. Most likely it will be a hidden option in another mod.

Yep, SWAG+Donuts is designed for that very purpose. The intent was to make SPT even more dynamic than Live.

I didn't understand how the medicines work in the realistic mod, if by chance there is a button to deactivate them. otherwise great videos, keep it up

Be sure to read through the mod description, there's an external config tool for Realism in its file folder to control things like the medical and trader overhauls. Thanks for watching!

No, not from the realism mod, it's not gonna affect the performance at all. Spt does have it's quirks, the mods that hurt performance the most are the ai mods, but you can install some performance improvement mods to counter that.

I don’t really understand the use amount changes to things like ifak and other med packs. I downloaded realism today but didn’t wanna detract from the original tarkov system. I disabled it but it was somehow still enabled. I had tons of med kits and it make them all 3/3 or similar. Closed the game and reset and turned the med changed off again and when I loaded all of my meds were set to 3/400, etc. ruined all my meds and made me sad because I’m lvl 9 and broke from buying a scav junk box. Lol

@@ingushetia9453 iirc the mod itself can be opened in its folder and edited. You can change a bunch of stuff there. Pretty sure it has to be done outside the game.

Hi all, I love SPT and have played it for quite some dozens of hours, but it runs like Dogshit and thats a turnoff for me. I have a powerful rig (4080, 12700k, 32gb ram 1440p) but the game usually drops sub-60 often and thats a turnoff for me. I play everything on high/ultra, my gpu and cpu sit at around 50%usage. I run the same mods as StarVox overall. Has someone found a way to make SPT run well? Except turnimg everything to low, thats a no-no too. I would love to jump back into spt but those fps drops 🤮
