About Atypical: Atypical is a coming of age story that follows Sam (played by Keir Gilchrist), a 19-year-old on the autism spectrum as he searches for love and independence. While Sam is on his funny and emotional journey of self-discovery, the rest of his family must grapple with change in their own lives as they all struggle with the ongoing central theme of the series: what does it really mean to be normal? In season three, Sam starts his first year of college and is faced with the challenge of figuring out what success means for him, while adjusting to the changes that come with growing up. Jennifer Jason Leigh stars as his mother, Elsa, who continues her own journey of self-discovery as her children grow older and more independent, Michael Rapaport plays his father, Doug, and Brigette Lundy-Paine plays Sam’s sister, Casey. Recurring this season are Sara Gilbert as Sam’s new Ethics professor, and Eric McCormack as his art professor.

I was given a poor grade in Psychology because I could never bring myself to speak in a large group. Had same problem for Speech. 1 on 1 or no more that 3 people in a group (Myself and 2 others), and I can talk. I prefer 1 on 1. Had this problem all of my life. In High School, the girl that sat in front of me in Government signed my Annual, "You are so quiet I have to turn around to see if you are there." I have never actually been diagnosed with Autism but I believe I have it. A Psychiatrist I was seeing thought I might also, and asked if I wanted to get tested. I declined. I took an on-line test for Autism. It said I was highly likely to have it. I just do not see a point in getting tested since I am in my 60s. I think the actor that portrays a high functioning Autistic person has done a great job at grasping what an Autistic person would be like. I see a lot of myself in his rendition of an Autistic person. I have just started the 4th and final season. It is my favorite show on Netflix right now.
