Best video I've seen for mounting these. Only thing missing is when to remove the leveling accessory. If you don't remove it early on, it will get stuck the more they are tightened and have to start again.

The developer of this scope mount advises against removing the oil and using loctite ???

I use SPUHR mounts exclusively. Buy once, cry once.

I use to be a Scalarworks fan until I finally broke the dreaded hinge (heard it happens a lot) Wound up selling all my Scalarworks mounts and now run Spuhr mounts. These things are built like tanks.

Love these mounts. I use the QD version on my K525 and my ZP5.

The one thing I need to do is start using witness marks on scope ring screws. Every several months I'll just recheck the tightness with a limiter that is 5 in-lbs less that original torque to see if it's loose, but torque 'stacking' is always a concern.

What about a false torque reading from "wet torque" with the Loctite? Is that an issue for scope mounts?
@pr0_tr0ll3 жыл бұрын
If you read the instructions, it actually says not to you loctite on the screws.

“Ring screws are delivered waxed. Customers working in extreme conditions might want to degrease the screws and screw holes to loctite instead”

“All screws are waxed from the factory for proper torque values but customers working in extreme conditions may want to degrease the screws and screw holes and use Loctite 243 (Blue) instead. They may also want to use a small amount of gripping agent, such as powdered rosin, in the rings.” Here’s the more recent (2019) manual from the Spuhr website

Cleaning the supplied screw from Spuhr and adding loctite is not the way to go. They have a thin layer of “glue” already added so they are ready to tighten to torque specs right out the box.

When I use the leveling key it becomes impossible to remove after installing and tightening the screws of the rings. Does this indicate a problem with the scope or the mount?
@SHLowlight2 жыл бұрын
too much pressure on the key, once you tighten the center, you can back the key out, you don't want to jam just hold it
@charleshetrick31522 жыл бұрын
@@SHLowlight yeah I guess I never realized how much compression really takes place, even at such small amounts of pressure.

@@SHLowlight indeed so, I’ve in the past always used a method wherein I clamp and level the rifle then use a flash light and a plumb line. This time the rifle (an AR50) simply didn’t fit on my bench with the right clearances for the exercise. I’ve come to discover everything 50BMG requires another tear of accommodation. The most frustrating was the OCW test.
