Back in the 70s in my home town spurious emissions from the local coast guard station interfered with hams, taxis, ambulance, and police. The FCC responded to complaints by saying they had no authority over the coast guard. When the issue was finally resolved we heard it was because the FAA said air traffic control was suffering interference.

There seems to be a lot of this at least in somewhat small amounts. When I turn on a LED ceiling fixture in one room my NOAA radio in another room goes silent. When I use the wireless mouse on one of my computers my CB radio in another room makes a squeaky noise on at least one channel. I keep it on scan and have not bothered to see if it is one CH or what CH(s) it's interfering with. I have learned to live with it. It's wasn't hard. Who knows what all else is happening I'm not aware of.

I still remember when I was young, my father had given me an AR152 (common assault radio) and me and my friend were playing with it one day. I took off the antenna and my friend told me that wasnt a good idea, that spurious emissions were dangerous. I didnt listen thinking it was a joke and I pressed the fire button... I can still hear the screams of agony as my friend slowly died and his organs leaked out of his body. To this day I cant believe that antenna's are removable and I think the ATF should regulate detachable antennas, so all to common events like this can never happen again!

Glad it was identified and was so innocuous. The company that sells that antenna should be getting a nice cease and desist letter from the FCC along with a fine. About 45 years ago, I was using a 10W, crystal controlled 2M mobile radio when a taxi chased me down and told me that he could hear everything I said. I sent the radio back to Regency and had it repaired. Glad it wasn’t putting out spurious on the police channel, instead.

Been at it 10 years now at 150 watts not a problem yet we have toned it down to 50 at night found we were overlapping a commercial station about 100 miles away on certain nights . My friend was talking to an anonymous man who was using an amplifier on his radio and he never had the harmoics measured and my friend ended up having his arm amputated because all the radioactive disharmonious harmonics were causing his blood to boil. I am experiencing the similar issue. There is just dang too many wifi hotspot around my condo unit, all the channels are used up and my device would always disconnect randomly. I hope my neighbours should power down their signal. 10mw should be enough to distribute wifi inside their unit and not cause interference.

Just about every new semi truck i pass on the interstate blanks out my stereo with static when i get within 20 yards of the cab in both directions.
