I'm trying to get into making antennas (for UHF CB - 477mButtHertz) & trying to have prove you don't have to spend a princes ransom on shop bought antenna, I was trying to figure out how to increase fars & lower SWR with chokes, baluns & ugly baluns, aka coils of co-ax. Still only vaguely understand the theory, but strongly suspect that's how you scored the SWR of 1.00 Keep up the great edutainment.

They sell 40 watt transmitters that operate on the FM broadcast band. They use them for Christmas light displays. The FCC doesn't seem to care about those so I don't think these little radios are a big priority for them.

I suppose my comment now will get YT deleted because it is so far off topic. LOL. Anyhow, I have always lived in Toronto here and discovered radio electronics at a very early age, and I am fluent in Morse Code but never got to use it 'cuz nobody else seems to know it. ...___ ... Anyhow, I loved reading the 1948 encyclopedia of the 'Book of Knowledge' and at the time, radio seemed like Magic. There were simple things and diagrams I learned to understand and ways to build them in varying complexity and even simple intercom systems. Those days, lots of kids were excited about crystal radios and picking up signals and music from "Space" I love Radios, The vacuum tubes were really exciting to learn about, experiment and inventing schematics to test our knowledge. I think you were sort of into that too but at a much later age. I'm 70.

Now that Chevron has been shot down by the Supremes I wonder how this will playout. The FCC cannot make up the rules as they go anymore. I can see GMRS becoming the new citizen band radio. Remember, they use to have CB licenses in the past, I feel this will be the same thing eventually.

"Never argue with a jealous fool." This is the comment I just sent. it has just six words. What on Earth is wrong with you people at KZbin? Are you so lazy you let your little app's do your job so you don't have to show? You are committing Cyber Abuse right now. Have you checked your Community guidelines? I am deeply offended. I would appreciate an apology. Why don't you reply and explain yourself. Is there a bad word in there or something? Do you like picking on people? Do you really know what you are doing or just blame the algorithm? You confuse me. Is this not the comment you were so concerned about? Then what was? "Never argue with a jealous fool." refers to Biden's trouble with felon trump last night in the Great debate. I feel hurt at how he was feeling and treated by a truly disrespectful Monster. I don't like it. My simple comment was not a personal attack on anyone and I feel very offended by your lack of empathy and understanding.. You have absolutely no concept of context. I am simply agreeing with the other people in the thread. "You should never waste time arguing with a fool." Everybody but fools know that. Trump acted like a bully with an onslaught of lies, insults and personal attacks because he is jealous of the Real President of the United states of America. Are you? My comment is something anybody's Mother might say to their children. Have a Nice day but stop bothering people over nothing. I suspect you gotta MAGA Brain Worm in Your System. You should have that checked out soon. Another thing. Why are you so relentless deleting harmless comments on current news type channels that go unread after a few days like an old paper? You guys got a quota to meet or something? You get paid for each one or something? Get a life. Now, go to your room and give yourself a good hard spanking. Maybe next time you will behave or I will have to get your father after you.

I have a rocky-talkie gmrs radio. I really like it. Throw a roll up SlimJim connected to some decent coax over a high tree limb and you can get much more distance. The battery lasts a really long time, I like the super ruggedness. I like that it is repeater capable. And I like that it has NOAA weather Radio. I'm glad I bought one.

If FRS and GMRS use the same channels-----can anyone tell which radio you're using?
@TheNotaRubicon11 сағат бұрын
Generally, NO... If you happen to be using a radio that transmits a specific and unique "roger beep", maybe.. Otherwise they would require some very extremely sophisticated technology.

<Insert Randy's Voice here> Ladies and gentlemen, our overlords at the FCC have spoken in this regard. It's clear that GMRS repeaters cannot be linked, period. No internet, no RF Links, no smoke signal links. In fact, GMRS frequencies do not allocate "Repeater Links" frequencies like ham radio. This also means that internet connections to apps such as Zello and others are not allowed. 😢 Listen to them, their own words ... <StartQuote> "Good Afternoon XXXXXXX, GMRS repeaters may not be linked via the internet, public switched telephone network or other networks to enable a repeater outside the communication range of the handheld or mobile device to retransmit messages received via the internet, PSTN or other networks. This violates Sections 95.1733(a)(8) and 95.1749 of the Commission's rules. Repeaters may only be connected to the public switched telephone network or other networks for the sole purposes of remote control. If you have any further questions or need additional information, please submit a help request at www.fcc.gov/support or call the FCC Licensing Support Center at (877) 480-3201. Sincerely, FCC Licensing Support Center 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM EST, M - F" <EndOfQuote> Praise our overlord's, Amen. Joke aside, the response from the FCC in regards the question about GMRS Repeaters links is real.

I noticed though comments are deleted just based on what the actual KZbin programers are pre setting key words that get deleted, if one mentions the "big C" from 20 20, youll get some error messages and then discover the comment gone on most recent, or any hot button topics, even without curse words used.

Curious if linked repeaters are in violation of § 95.1749 GMRS network connection. Curious if linked operation of GMRS repeaters is a violation of § 95.1749 GMRS network connection. “Operation of a GMRS station with a telephone connection is prohibited, as in § 95.349. GMRS repeater, base and fixed stations, however, may be connected to the public switched network or other networks for the sole purpose of operation by remote control pursuant to § 95.1745.” Arizona has a well run and generally properly used GMRS linked system, so if linked systems are not allowed, this could be in jeopardy as well.
