When disposing of documents such as bank statements, tax returns, or credit card statements, shredding the documents is the best way to protect your identity. However, if you are unable to shred the documents, then placing them in a secure trashcan where only you can access them is the next best step. This prevents any potential dumpster divers from being able to access the documents, thus protecting your identity.

I was in an electronic warfare unit stationed in Germany and I tried--and failed--to institute a trash monitoring program for my unit. We Americans throw out everything. Even after finding classified manuals in the trash, it was "no go" on trash inspection. Personnel data, training schedules, supply forms, maintenance records, all good stuff. I wasn't able to get any interest on that security program.

My ex was always going on about identity theft. I finally told her, do you really think anyone is interested?? YOU DON'T HAVE ANYTHING, YOU'RE POOR. That didn't go over too good

Doesn't matter, someone could take her identity and apply for credit cards, lie about income, ruin her credit and even commit crimes and get busted with ID that matches hers. Then her life is hell trying to get it all straight later. Imagine you plan your trip of a lifetime and at the airport you get taken aside and all this comes out. My wife had her passport stolen years ago, and it came back to bite just recently as her ID was being used by someone else. Always protect your identity, and your GF is smarter than you.

use a knife and scrape the prescription name, your name and the prescription # off

Lighter and metal pot is much cheaper then shreader, who has yard can also burn stuff easy. Also isnt easiest way to dig someone trash is play a homeless role? Put some dirty clothes, let beard not many would suspect that. Freeze credit is also more or less useless. When salary arrive i take all out in cash. Cash is best

Is dumpster diving still OSINT? I mean: It's an active method but the garbage will eventually leave the premises of PoI, so - in a way - you're clear to jump in head first and hunt. P.s.: My fireplace buried more secrets than shredders in Langley and Quantico together.
