I was only a 9-year-old fourth grader when this song first came out. It was one of the many songs that I first heard on Famous 56, WFIL, here in Philly. It was THE station to listen to back then. I'm now 61 and I still love this music!

Great song! This brings me back to the 5th grade. I love the 60's soul music. Keep up the good work.

What more can I say? Rather than simply cover this song, Spyder Turner truly made it his own! Absolutely my favorite version of STAND BY ME!

I used to listen to this as a boy since Spyder was big here in Detroit. This song is like what Norman Rockwell used to do with paintings; he'd paint masterpieces within his paintings, often several of them. Masterpieces within a masterpiece. That's what Spyder does here.

I remember listening to this on the radio back in the 60's. I was living in Cleveland at the time.

Thank you so much for uploading this. I had this album at one time and have missed this one particular song ever since I gave my records away back in '91. I spent a lot of time in record stores and flea markets looking to replace it. It's my favorite rendition of this song with all the imitations of other singers in it. He does such a great job. I could just listen to this one song over and over again. Thanks again.

I have loved this version of the this song ever since the first time I heard it way before the Internet and KZbin and iTunes. It was somewhat obscure even then like 20 years ago when I heard it on the Herman K Griffin show in Fredericksburg. If you're out there, Herman, here's to you my man! Keep groovin! Jim and The Mrs.

This is always my favorite version of Stand By Me thanks to Spyder Turner's wonderful impressions of so many other great soul singers. Hearing the original version is like hearing a non-Marcels version of Blue Moon without the doo-wop. ☺

what are the call letters for the 105.7 you are referring to. There is a 105.7 in Green Bay, Wi., but they are classic rock. If I knew the town or call letters, I might be able to find them on the internet.

Could the 105.7 have been from Baltimore? There was once a great oldies station there: I understand that they changed the format.
