It IS the best Spyderco. And I was both dissapointed and pissed when I lost my G-10 one >:( However, I still have my Spyderco Manix 2XL. I've held Paramilitaries before, and different Spydercos, and the ergonomics on this one is bar none the best- nice deep index finger choil, secondary jimped choil on the ricasso, nice subtle palm swell, and a graceful pinky ramp. And of course, there is the jimped thumb ramp that locks your hand in place. The main reason why I consider this the best Spyderco is because it can play multiple usage roles so well. It can easily be light to heavy EDC, for your basic tasks, and with a blade length at 3 3/8" (3.375"), it is under 3 1/2", which over that starts getting into tactical territory. Of course, when you are talking tactical/defensive/fighting knives, there are a lot of things to take into account- like blade shape, design, etc. For example a push dagger may only have a blade length of 2.5" - 3.5", but the design is to stab someone, so the blade length really isn't a factor of intent. What I'm saying is that legally, if you had to use this as an emergency back up defensive/tactical knife, the fact that it is under 3.5", has a relatively non-aggressive drop point design could be arguments that you easily use in your defense if there was a case of legality and purpose/intent in a court case. So it serves VERY well in both the EDC and emergency back-up defensive/tactical roles, especially with that S30V steel that feels like it holds and edge forever So all around, it is an awesome knife. Whereas I believe the Delica, Endura (even the waved Endura), and the Paramilitary are best suited for EDC and lite emergeny tactical, the Manix 2 can perform deftly in BOTH the EDC AND tactical/defensive/fighting category. An ideal knife for me would be able to cover both territories in one knife.

I own this knife and absolutely love it, which is amazing because I hate Spyderco knives usually. They have funny looking shapes because of the stupid hole they always put in their blades. I love the Manix 2 because the shape of the blade isn't as odd looking with the way the hole is placed on this model. Great knife. In fact I have the XL as well.

Hey Bird just so you know a lockback can be opened with one hand i do it alot with mine,infact its only way i open it . Pinch it with thumb and middle and push the lock with index finger and give it some wrist bam. Slight learning curve indeed ,but worth it.

My edc for the last year has been the Manix 2 XL. It is thee one that all blacked out. Love it. I went to Golden Co and had to visit the Spyderco plant. War fun, walked out with the Manix 2 sprint run with the burled g-10 scales. I feel like my XL is mad at me now

The Manix 2 is the Spyderco that made me put my PM2 away, feels better in hand- more substantial. Blade is more stout , PM2 blade in not as strong, and I've had issue with the tip in the past. Manix 2 all day, everyday.

I am by no means an expert this is just my opinion. The shamen kills both the PM2 and the Manix. I do own all three and love the Manix and PM2. The Shamen is such a good knife.

beerman298207 I both the black and stonewashed Shamen, I think in a couple of years it will overtake the PM2 because of how frustrating it is to get a PM2 outside of S30V. The Shamen is more of a working kind of knife, not by that much, but all that extra handle does make a difference.

I have to agree with you. I love my PM2 and my Manix is on the way so I can't judge yet. The Shaman is probably one of if not the best knife on the market. Super tough, perfect ergos, slices well, and just the right size.

I love my manix 2 I bought it when it first came out , has the saber tooth grind and 154cm. My dad has a rarer one with a sabertooth grind and s30v, they only made a few of those before they switched to FFG.

I own a Manix 2 xl and a manix 2 with really nice Cuscadi boxwood scales. Love the tactile feel of the gimping all over these knives but wish the spring preasure was less or the angle of the button was a little steeper providing better rearward grip.

I just picked up the Knifeworks exclusive in greay g10 with black dlc coated 52100 steel blade and black liners and hardware..the best looking Manix 2 imho. I'm a fan of 52100 because although it's no supersteel, it is tool steel, holds an edge pretty well, and is easy as hell to sharpen. 15-20passes per side on a strop, and you're good to go.

whoa you guys have the lockback manix 2! funny enough my manix 2 is right next to me and its my go to knife at home. since i didnt work today and my love for waved knives has been rekindled i carried my endura wave today. ive been carrying the s110v lw manix at work for my user and cqc 4k xl for my backup/loaner ive also never tried the manix 2 xl but im a cornball and i wanted the edc forums xl with glow in the dark scales very cool scales on that pm2!
