I can practically stop the patina from forming, i.e. I can make it look quite a bit better, by cleaning it with Bar Keeper’s Friend metal polish, which evens the patina out quite a bit. It definitely looks a lot better after that cleaning, just be careful not to get it on the G10, as it tends to stain (I don’t have that problem, having swapped all my G10 out for metal).

I inadvertantly bought this exact knife about an hour ago. I've been watching your channel for a little while now and I've seen your para 3 with the other color scales you have, can't remember what color, and told myself I'd buy one one day. I can't wait to get it in my hands. And in excited to see how well the maxamet holds up. But yeah, same scales and everything as the one you're showing in this video.

I carry a blurple para 3 in S110V. It’s my edc. I first bought a PM2 but did not care for the size. The Para 3 is a much better fit. My wife got me a Para 3 in Maxamet which I have been wanting. I will rotate between the two. The Para 3 just feels like the perfect size knife for what I need. It is a solid build and I’m not easy on it. I bought some fine diamond stones to use with the Spyderco sharpener. Just touch the blade up every now and then and it’s always good to go.

You don’t need to use a hammer to install the lanyard tube! But you do need to do some minor surgery. The problem is mostly in the liner, where the gap where the tube goes through is too tight. I’ve found that if I remove a TINY amount of metal (I use emery cloth wrapped around a drill bit) from the hole where the lanyard tube goes through, the tube pops in and out easily! Furthermore, the knife assembles EASILY! Since I remove just enough metal to allow the tube to slip through, while still fitting quite closely, the assembly is as strong as ever.

Maxamet is an interesting steel and in fact I have one grey frn Manix 2 but to me being stainless is very convenient for an EDC model. For that reason the only Para3 I would buy is the Blue CPM S110V version. During hot days a Maxamet or an hypothetical K390 version (like one of my Delicas) literally could rust in my pocket even without have to use it, just because the salty sweat.

My first and last spyderco was the Native 5 in MAXAMET. I had a carpet in the back yard about 3 meters long that was all sandy and shit and my mother wanted me to slice it down the middle. An "OH SHT" moment for any knife but the maxamet came out with minimal flat spots. As for sharpening if I use lansky course diamond or medium diamond it comes out chippy fux, the fine diamond (600) works nicely. In combination with diamond 600, ceramic 1000 and a little stropping. I can get it bity arm hair shaving and semi reflective. Although I feel like i've got a Popeye arm after sharpening. C: 2.15;W: 13.00; V: 6.00; Cr: 4.75; Co: 10.00; Mn: 0.30 ; S: 0.070; Si: 0.25;

Lately, I’ve been picking them up, and giving them another try. The para 3 has always been kinda compelling, and I wanted to try maxamet.

First off. She's a keeper buying amazing toys like that for you. Second. I've broke the tip on 2 Spyderco's. The first they replaced but I'm sure it's because I was active duty. The second I threw in the ocean because I was mad. Those 2 broken knives were not Spyderco's fault. They make cutters, not folding prybars. I, we, have to understand the design and use it accordingly. Great video you lucky guy.

@@cliffs1468 now I'll seriously reply as best I can since you're obviously a dumbass and new to the knife industry. Knife companies typically don't replace knives for broken tips. Don't believe me Einstein, try it. The only company I know of that will is ESEE. The fact that Spyderco replaced mine, which is way out of their warranty, i assume was because of the APO address. I may be wrong. As for your immediate desire to attack me because I referenced having been in the military, you may want to get that psychological problem checked out before you get yourself hurt. Not saying I'm gonna do it. I'm not an internet tuff guy like yourself. Plus, unfortunately, you don't live near me.

Has anybody noticed that the Maxamet blade is, apparently, made in a different way than most other Spyderco blades? The broad “grind” is, apparently, milled rather than being ground, like I think most blades are made. If you look closely, you can see the straight, even lines made by a tool. That must be Spyderco’s method of working this difficult, wonderful steel.

It’s always better to speak for yourself in most everything when discussing products that are available for most people to purchase, and Knives’s aren’t the acception to the rule because as you know pocket knives are a popular edc tool for a lot of people. The Spyderco Delica 4 is still one of the best edc options for a lot of people because of weight and the many color options that Spyderco offers. I would think that it would be one of those knives that people would move toward not away from. Don’t knock the lightweight para 3 until you have tried it, I carry one most days and I have many options to choose from but it’s still the one that I go to most days because of the carry ability. CPM-4V is a twin for edge retention and “sharpness” compared to Maxamet and if it has DLC coating (ie St. nick exclusive) is just as holy grail of a knife and the Para 3 lightweight is much lighter for EDC.
