My thoughts on comparing the two super awesome knives! Sage 5 is a real surprise. Para 3 is amazing. Rock on.

Great vid. I was literally hoping to find a review of these two knives side by side, thank you!

Great review, I subbed to your channel. I was going to settle for the Para 3 LW, but then the sage 5 LW came out and I was able to purchase exactly what I wanted. Love my sage 5 LW.

Jon - great video. Good common sense evaluations and comments. The amount of subscribers (less than 1,000) to your channel doesn't match the quality of your reviews. You are one of my favorite reviewers. Keep up the good work.

Tom thanks for the kind words! I'm hoping to get back on KZbin very soon with some new vids and an update on where I've been. Thanks for watching and I appreciate the encouragement! 🤘🔥

Sage 5 for me. I have both and Sage 5 is just the perfect edc knife. Also the fit/finish on the Sage 5 is amazing. Like the 3d spyder on the blade.

It's a hard choice, but I too would chose the Sage 5 over the Para 3 as an EDC, especially the newer lightweight model.

Para 3 with a thinner blade stock would be great!

Bento Box Knives has K390 Para 3’s and Para 2’s in stock and for sale right now.

They're prone to a little bit of lock stick but it breaks in. My k390 para 3 may very well be my favorite knife ever.

Thanks for the video Jon. I agree with everything you said here. If one of these two had to be discontinued, I wonder which one could we live without? The para3 because we already have the para2?
@rangerjonoutdoors64296 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jay. Yes I’d probably agree with you on that. I found that pretty much 100% of the time, I’d rather carry the Sage 5 no contest. That’s when comparing S30V models to each other. Sprints in the Para 3 make it interesting. However the other thing I’ve found is that every time I reach for the Para 3, I stop, put it down, and grab a PM2 instead haha! So while I love the Para 3, it gets very cannibalized from both sides by the Sage 5 and the PM2. I’d say it’s really only needed if you CANT legally carry the PM2 where you live and still want the Military family’s DNA in your knife. Otherwise I’m really just waiting for the knife works 204p, k390, or a Lc200n para 3 to come out.

You missed one thing. The jimping out of Tai Chung is absolutely the BEST. It locks you in without feeling sharp. Golden's isn't bad, but doesn't equal the Tai Chung.

So based on your two videos, buy a Sage 1, and a para 3 Maxamet. Thanks for your review.👍🇨🇦

Your wish is granted. Bento Box Knives has K390 Para 3’s and Para 2’s in stock right now. Para 3 is like 170$ and the Para 2 is around 185$. Ranger green g10 scales. I picked up a Para 2 in M390 and K390. The Para 2 and Para 3 M390’s have blue g10 scales and are the same price as the K390’s. Just a heads up in case you didn’t know but they are still in stock at Bento Box Knives.

Still in stock to this day but much more expensive

Probably not your intention with this video, but you've convinced me to sell my S110V Para 3. It's grown on me, but not to the point of "MUST KEEP IT!"

Now I have to live with this guilt!? That’s great though man. I’m glad some folks, especially other knife guys can get something from the vids at all haha. I’m kind of in the same camp though. I really loved the Para 3 when it first came out, but I just keep finding things I enjoy that little bit more, especially after trying these Sages now. I routinely reach for the Para 3 and wind up setting it down and grabbing the PM2 instead every time lol. I also take a Native 5 over the Para frequently as well. Funny how these things go! Rock on dude thanks for the comment 🔥🤘

Slicey Dicey you getting the sage 5 instead?
@SliceyDicey6 жыл бұрын
No. The WE Rectifier has filled the Para 3's former role very nicely.

I will never get rid of my s110v para 3. I used it the other day to cut sheetrock and it was awesome. I would not do that with any of my other knives, but the para 3 is built like a tank. This video actually convinced me to add another para 3 to my collection.

Sage 5 vs. Native for EDC. I'd take Native. They just need to release it in a solid carbon fiber w/compression lock.
@SuperSteelSteve5 жыл бұрын
Lol a native 5 with a Compression lock is a Sage 5
@sinjon4 жыл бұрын
That would be a Sage 5 with a very shallow thumb ramp.
@Smaug15 жыл бұрын
They're both pretty thick. If you like the thinness of the Sage 5 and how well it cuts, you owe it to yourself to try a Delica4 or Centofante3. Or even a Dragonfly2.

Both are great knifes, but why in the world do you use a clip as a park ranger. I take all clips off my knifes. And for sure if I am out in the woods. They tend to catch. And I have had them pulled out of my pocket. I hate clips.
