Great Video and thanks!! I don't necessarily agree but I do love both of these knives.

The customer service at Hogue is not only exceptional, but truly world class as well!!!

I've had both for several years The Para 2 is always on me. The Hogue is a great knife but I never carry it. I hate the clip. The two screws inside the clip hang up contently when pulling it out of my pocket. It's my sharpest knife however. The Hogue's blade has more play then the rock solid Para 2.

Great, thorough, comparison. I agree with you on almost every point. The Ritter Hogue kicked everything else out of my pocket because of the supreme bang for buck.

The Hogue Ritter RSK is my favorite knife that I own. Followed by the TRM Atom and the Cold Steel AD10.

It’s a great knife and I’d say it’s also one of my favorites. Thanks for watching👍

Why in the world did you replace the stock clip on the Para 2 with that inside screw clip. That's what kills the Hogue carry for me.

I guess watching this.. and I don't have a horse in this race. You aren't really a fan of the PM2...I love both of these knives, .. you obviously are not. The PM2 is not the perfect knife... but damn for something so horrible.. it's the standard comparison for every damn knife since it was introduced... why.. cause it's a really damn great knife!!

I'm not a big PM2 fan and I do really like the Ritter design. I've had 5 Houge 20CV and none have done much better than S30V. For that reason and the wide variation in performance I've experienced with them will keep me from owning one until they can get a decent heat treat down.

Nice to know👍 I kinda wish hogue would use 154 CM like they did with older models

Good video. Not sure i agree, but i can certainly respect your viewpoint! Very little experience with the Hogue Ritter, but what you saw as negatives, ergonomically, in the pm2 are positives in my hands. Thats one of the major downsides in large scale knife manufacturing. Sal talks about it quite a bit on the forum. Cant wait to see what you think of the military. While the military handle likely will have a lot of the same problems you pointed out in the pm2, the 4" blade, and near perfect pivot system and lock may make them a little more forgivable.

You try so hard to embarrassed PM2 ,it's sad how desperate you sound the most recognized knife around the globe . I have 2 RSK's good knife but not GREAT and on top of that something is wrong with heat treatment,check Out.76 video. I have few PM 2 from S 30 to S 90 GREAT knife all around.. I have only 127 knives ,for some knives collector its nothing from 50$ to 800$ and PM 2 is top 5 in my collection. Next time just say I don't like PM 2 don't try so hard to say it's garbage. People will respect you more and your knife knowledge. P.S. English is my 3rd language so sorry for grammar.

I gave your review a thumbs down! It is your opinion but I expect a unbiased review. Two areas of debate: you failed mention that the a Able. lock will fail at some point due to a broken omega spring. Second, heat treat for 20CV, M390 have been all over the place including the Hogue, two rc hardness on Hogue 20cv was 61 and 58 on a second one Outpost 76 channel, and I would take S30v because Spyderco's heat treat have always been correct .
@itsaknifestyle84824 жыл бұрын
I mentioned that the able lock has reinforced omega springs so they will last longer. Now I’m not saying they are indestructible, but I assume it will last longer than a Benchmade. My example of 20cv on this hogue has held a good edge and preformed fine so I didn’t mention any complaints. I can see your point in both, but the Hogue blew the PM2 out of the water in this comparison so I wouldn’t call this an biased review. Thanks, have a nice rest of your day

Spyderco's M390/20CV/204P is just recently (the Manix 2 M390) starting to show adequate HRC numbers. I had a 204p Southard and 20cv pm2 test at 58.9 and 59.6, respectively. My Manix 2 tested at 61.6, which is almost close enough to adequate, for me, while my 550-1 was 62. In my, and many other's experience, Benchmade is putting out the best s30v and 20cv (and M4!) of any large production company. My point is mostly that M390 has no place in large scale production folders. ALL manufacturers are putting out an inferior product. M390 @64 HRC is superior to 99.9% of current bladesteels, but were getting it @61, 62, or even 58, where it offers no real word advantages over lowly old S30V. Its not ever gonna change, though, because the current collector market continues to throw money at knives in M390, mostly because m390@58 sits in a case all the same as m390@64.

@@CNYKnifeNerd I totally agree and for my needs S30V is excellent. I just got a UK penknife in BD1N and this may be my favorite user steel; I find it holds a good edge and strops up to razor sharpness. My newest Benchmade is the Bugout, the cutting edge from the factory would slice paper but not shave hair, corrected with the Sharpmaker and a strop. I enjoy the axis lock but a omega spring broke after 7 weeks. I purchased some after market omega springs on ETsy and these have much more tension. Thanks for the information. Have a great day.

@@barrylevitt1170 BD1N is excellent! My go-to beater is a spyderedge para3 in BD1N. I beat on that thing like its disposable, but it just strops right back to shaving sharp in a few minutes. It reminds me of LC200N in many ways, albeit with a lot less toughness. The omega springs thing is strange to me. I have a theory that they changed something about the omega springs around the time of the bugout. I have a ton of older axis lock knives, some with really heavy use/abuse and none have ever failed. The bugout, and pretty much every subsequent axis lock model hasnt interested me, so my experience with omega spring models stops at that time. My S90V 940 is on its 3rd blade, from being dulled and sharpened so much the blade became more of a splitting maul than a knife. It takes a TON of use to kill ONE s90v blade let alone 2, and its still on it's original omega springs. I did just acquire a franken-bailout, so im curious to see if my theory has any credibility. I totally agree about S30V. Its all the steel the overwhelming majority of users will ever need. I love that, in the recent testing Larrin has published on his website (knifesteelnerds, just incase you're not familiar), a lot of people seem to be surprised with S30V's results, but all the other people i talk to that actually use s30v extensively predicted exactly where it would stand in relation to other supersteels. Cheers! Have a great day.

@@CNYKnifeNerd Spyderco M390 is not just recently showing better performance. Hrc is like a dyno, it gives you an idea of what to expect. Actual cutting performance is like trap speed, it doesn't lie. I'll take 2 examples the 20CV RSK at 61.5 hrc and a 2016 M390 PM2 at 62 hrc. The Hogue did 230 total feet of cutting in a 1 inch section while the M390 did 403 feet in a 1 inch section. So what happened, the heat treat of each individual knife is drastically different. That example of Hogue 20CV was not done very well and it's the best performing Hogue 20CV ove found so far. Why did a half point increase in hardness allow the M390 to do almost double the cutting, it went through a much better heat treat process. I agree Benchmade does do S30V a little more consistently but their 20CV is just poor. Their M4 is about even with what you'll find from Spyderco.
