I was excited when I saw that they were upgrading the steel on the Tenacious. And in my favorite color too. The Tenacious is a great design and the 8cr was the only thing holding it back. The edge geometry has always been great for slicing and the thing I like about it is that it is essentially the size of a Para 3 closed but has more cutting edge than a PM2. I got one of these right away and have been happy with it, but seeing your testing really makes me feel good about it. Thanks for the test!

Thanks, now I need to buy another knife ;-) I love the Tenacious but the 8cr didn't work for me at one point, so I upgraded to the PM2 and felt in love with it but I'm still missing the longer cutting edge. This new one has also a new fresh look to it.

I’m really happy with mine. Always liked the tenacious so when this version came out it was a no brainer for me. Replaced the frn with some custom micarta scales and it looks great.

Honestly they're expensive because they do some of the best production heat treating in the world. And qc is usually amazing. I own many. Shaman m4. Spydiechef. Para3 s45vn. Para3 maxamet. Manix 2 s110v. Maybe a few others. This is tempting. I usually don't like s35much. But this is impressive. All my spyderco steels impress me a lot. My s45 is really made me feel crazy. I beat the crap out of it and it's still like I didn't do anything to it. Super sharp. I havnt used my maxamet much yet. Got some ti scales comming for it

This is one of my go-to work knives. It's a hard worker. I laid the edge angle back a little on my first sharpening and it just sings through material.

I EDC a sprint run Earth-brown Paramilitary 2 in that CPM S35VN steel and yes, I can confirm it is very good. I got others harder with longer edge retention like Maxamet, K390 and CPM S110V but for daily use it is very convenient, stainless and "chip-forgiving".

BTW, I would like you to compare SPY27 with S35VN, kind of a cardboard, zip ties and wire cutting battle. I think the SPY27 would strop back the edge with better results.

This thing must have a great heat treat. I wish I would of saved up for this and waited a few months. This came out right after I bought the 8cr. The tenacious was my first knife.

I haven’t bought a new knife in a while and have only been carrying my manix 2 in maxamet. But I always liked the tenacious, but could never get over the 8cr, might have to add this one to the collection as on of the users.

Thanks for Vid. I am very happy with my. It is very good slicer, sharpening is super and holds the edge very well and spydi flick works perfect. This is a winner. I am looking for another with spydie edge.

Also, when hammering the blade make sure you disengage the lock because you risk breaking the liner lock.

I usually try to do that when batoning through wood however when I am going through the copper cable it is way to dangerous because of how hard I have to hit it but I’ve done the copper wire test a bunch of time and never had a liner fail on me but I have had a rat 1 liner fail during batoning but it was my own fault because I forgot to disengage the lock before I started 👍🍻🍻
