Actually IMHO "Heartland" is the steppes from Pannonia in the West to Kingan Mountains in the East, though probably in the last 5000 years steppes were expanded and shrinking according to climate. When it was expanded, steppe people spread all over the new steppes and rimlands in the last 5000 years. The heartland territory was actually controlled by steppe people for millenniums who were militarily superior until the modern age. The Steppe people conquered repeatedly Rimland countries and generally their rule were golden ages of those countries. The rule of steppe people in Rimland countries made those countries powerful and those steppe originated elites protected those lands against other Steppe people. Iran is a good example which was ruled for 2600 years mostly people from the Steppes until 1922. China has actually was created by people from Steppes including legendary dynasties. The Zhou dynasty was from Steppes too and they are the ones who created China. Even the Qin dynasty has steppe blood in their veins. Many countries in eastern Europe and Balkans were created by Steppe people. Actually steppe people spread from Ireland to Korea, from Siberia to India. In short it was the steppe people who created the world as we know. And modern histiography was manipulated to deny their direct and indirect influences.

"And modern histiography was manipulated to deny their direct and indirect influences." I don't agree with you on this. I agreed with everything, except this part. I think the world understands the importance of the nomadic steppe people, in fact the prevalent theory is that, from Portugal to India, all the inhabitants speak a language that descends from Proto-Indo European, and the most recent findings point that the original PIE came from the steppes around the Caucasus/Khazakstan.

They tried to conquer rimland countries and failed for the most part except in hungary. Where the cuman avar language stayed but the slavic gene is predominant. Steppe people did not really contribute much to today's inventions, medicine, science, rather they were known for their pillaging and nomadic lifestyle-they were illiterate and mongered the world on horseback setting up camps along their way

@@tuks1131 Who brought Slavs to Balkans and Eastern Europe? Who defeated and drove out Germanics so Slavs could spread in those lands as subjects of Steppe overlords. Who defeated Eastern Roman Empire so Bulgaria was founded? Etc., Etc. Early Slavs were forest people fishermen, not civilized people of Rimland countries.

@@BulanGoldstein Well yeah Bulgaria is an oddball. But the langauge from Kubrat's time is not the same as today's Bulgarian so we can conclude every country is a mix of different bloods. You have eupedia for haplogroup frequencies, I just know that mainly here it's I2b and its homogenous as I1 is in Nordic countries. There is this settlement Vince like 5000k BC 40 mins from me so maybe there is something to that. If you want to know more about modern day Bulgarians read some stuff from Spiridon Gopcevic, it should all make sense.

China's belt/road(pipeline) strategy is solid. They're also VERY active in "development" of third world countries.

2024. Iran, China (almost) and Russia are fighting against US allies to break from the heartland into the rimland. These theories have aged well.
