For the 4 coaxials this amp would sound great. The Hi-Energy's have a 92db sensitivity and should perform great on this amp. If you so desire and have the budget to do so, the PDX-F6 and seperate mono amp will raise the bar even more and give you more headroom, but it's not necessary especially on coaxials. 137w is rated at 14.4 volts, actual output is probably close to 100 or 110w I'm guessing at typical car voltages. I'm very happy with this amp.

Looks like I will probably go with the PDX-F6. Apparently my car (I haven't had it long) has different sizes in the front and back, 6.5" and 6x9 and may need a bit more power. So I'll probably go with a 4x150W setup with 4 speakers and then start shopping for an extra mono amp next. I've heard very positive things about Alpine's PDX amps, and they seem to be offer good power and quality for the money. Thanks for the info.

Will do! Yeah, I know it'll push one of them fine, but two in a sealed box, we'll see. I don't need lots of bass just accurate and low bass.

I really like the Helix components. I think my mids are a bit veiled at the moment, but that's no doubt due to me using my restrictive door speaker grills. I've got to figure something out there.

I like the test you are doing on the pdx amp and the subwoofer and box. Keep doing a good job! And what is the name of that bass cd you are playing? THANK YOU
@Clint_the_Audio-Photo_Guy11 жыл бұрын
No you can't. You can bridge the 4 full range channels into pairs though and get 200 wpc x 2 and then 500 watts to the sub if you wanted. Or you can run active and run two channels to the tweets and two channels to the mids, and one to the sub of course.
@discoshallriseagain12 жыл бұрын
Well sq in your case is debatable. Don't bother getting a processor if you are using class d amps and I recommend not using 2 subs... a quality one not made in china would be enough imo. One sub will get you better sound and put less stress on your amp especially if you keep the factory alt. I personnaly prefer passive over active... saves a lot of headaches. Just get quality comps like Diamond, Hertz or DLS. Helix are really good too though.

It's a 2008 Kia Optima. It dreams of being an S4, lol. Big trunk though! Sounds like a good system you've got there. I am worried too about the bottom end power, mostly because the RE SE's have a lowish sesitivity, and I've got two of them, and they're sealed which requires more power. I may add an amp or get a single 12" with a higher sensitivity, like an Image Dynamics idmax or something. We'll see how this performs first though.

What car is this going in? I built a system for my Audi S4 Avant with Infinity Kappa Perfect6.1 ans Perfect5.1 separates front and rear along with a single 12" Pioneer TS-SW3001S4 all powered off a 5 channel Kappa Five. The head unit is a Pioneer AVIC-Z 130 BT Overall I like it. I think that the digital amp is a little underpowered for the sub so I'm thinking about getting a Kappa One to round out the low end.

Yeah I've seen his videos, he's like the mad scientist of subwoofer boxes. Hmm, now my wheels are turning.... I just got mine working though, but I wonder what he'd charge me for a proper box..... yes. Lol.
@Clint_the_Audio-Photo_Guy11 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I liked them. But I think they need at least a 600 watt amp per driver. Then they'll open up nicely.

Yeah, I'm back down to just one 10" from Hertz now. It was too much output and also too much sub for my power.

Hi , THis is Mathan here from india . I have an Pioneer GN-D8500 Amplifier to power my pioneer sub and another pionner 4 ch amplifier to power Focal as 165 component in the front and a coaxial at the rear, Now I am plannning to install this in my new car and planning to replace this with a 5 ch Amp. which one should i go for . I was contemplating betwen Rockford Fosgate R600X5 Prime 5-Channel Amplifier and Alpine PDX-V9. Please help me decide. but planning to retain the speakers (or ) should i use the same units

I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on this amp and 4 Hertz HCX 165 6.5" coaxial speakers very soon. The power handling of the speakers is rated between 100W to 200W. Which figure is more accurate, 100W x 4 or 137W x 4? I'm trying to figure out if I'd barely have enough power or plenty to run 4 speakers properly. Would I be better off getting the 4-channel PDX with 150 x 4 and get a separate amp for a sub, or would the PDX-V9 meet all my needs for 4 speakers and a modest sub?
@monsterpete111 жыл бұрын
Question? Can I use 2 channels for miss and highs and use the other 2+ sub channel so the sub gets a total of 700 watts?

Hi, I would like your opinion about the pdx v9'm looking to buy one and would like to know if the sound quality is good. There is a story about this amp, it generates a hiss is true? I'm in the car a focal one sub 13w1 jl v30 and my amp kit and giving this problem and is also very large jl 500/5. What do you think? Thank you.
@Clint_the_Audio-Photo_Guy10 жыл бұрын
I like it a lot. Mine has no hiss whatsoever. I've heard of people getting a hiss, but I think it's more likely an installation or equipment combination issue. I had an SQ judge in my car and he commented that he couldn't believe how low the noise floor was. Better than his own which was also an Alpine setup. You'll be fine with the V9. It's a very compact amp too, people don't believe it when I open my trunk that that's all that's in there.

Does your box have a divider in the middle? And if it does how did you wire them together?
@Clint_the_Audio-Photo_Guy6 жыл бұрын
Yes. They were wired externally. Each woofer had it's own binding posts, so it could be wired any way I wanted.
@gerardogomez41256 жыл бұрын
Clint the Audio Guy what ohm was your subs? And what ohm were they wire down to?
@Clint_the_Audio-Photo_Guy6 жыл бұрын
These were dual 2 ohm voicecoil subs, wired to 4 ohm each, then together for a 2 ohm nominal impedance combined.
@gerardogomez41256 жыл бұрын
Clint the Audio Guy thats what wanted to finger out I always look up on the web how to wire 2 subs in different chambers with 2 terminal cups but it never says how to, always says wired them together either in series or parallel thanks now i know. I use to have 2 4 ohm kickers compvr subes wired in serie different chambers in a ported box with a cx 1200.1 2 ohm kicker amp, thats how the shop wired it. So basically seeing a 4 ohm load and on my amp a 4 ohm load is 600 watts so i was always confused why my brother in law had the same setup but with. Cx 600.1 separate chambers in a sealed box and bumped way more than mine i was always confused, was always like how can he be bumping harder than mine if i got a 1200.1 and he only gots a 600.1 amp like whhhaaatt lol.

Why didn't you just sand off the 2/10th of an inch that you needed removed from the sub cutout, instead of all the headache causing stuff you tried? I know you posted this awhile ago, but it looks like you are still checking and answering the comments. Any way, good luck.
@Clint_the_Audio-Photo_Guy11 жыл бұрын
I did sand the holes actually. That's how I finally fitted them, with a rotary sanding wheel on a drill. I needed to remove a lot of material which is why I didn't think to in the first place. A real coarse wheel did the trick.
