(Squad) Abrams 2-shot ammo rack kill by T-72B3

For anyone thinking turret ring, owi somewhat fixed double pen and it's very unreliable now. Ammo racking is far more consistent. (Btw if you don't understand Chinese, I was the driver and was specifically telling my gunner to go for ammo rack so the shot was intentional.)

Can u explain for me what was double pen? And how did u guys managed to hit the second shot in the ammo rack? The first one i know because u can hit from the left side track the ammorack in the middle of the tank but i didn't get it the second shot.

@@gandalfdafavela1044 So firstly on the subject of double pen. It means literally what it says, the round penetrating the tank twice in a roll and dealing double the normal damage. You could do that to the Abrams before since if you view it from the side and draw a line horizontally at the level of the turret ring, you could see that a round following that line would first go through the entirety of the turret ring and then into the upper part of the engine that sticks up and quote on quote "penetrating twice" . There were also other examples on other vehicles though less significant. But now they did some fixing and it's unlikely to happen. And for the ammo rack, you could go look at the x-ray of any vehicle with a ammo rack and see that you could actually hit ammo from many different angles as long as you aim at the right spot (also note the blue no pen zone that stops any projectiles and prevents a frontal shot from killing the engine).

The amount of people in the comments section who have absolutely no idea how armor works in squad but have a strong opinion on the subject is actually astonishing. People need to recognize that it is a video game and it's not even a realistic video game. Assets such as vehicles in game are designed to be somewhat balanced and most important of all, easy to use, not realism. Us long time squad players always tell people that squad is just Battlefield with some aspects of realism mixed in and you should take it as such. The video is meant to showcase a skillful and somewhat lucky take down of an opponent in the same spirit as a 360 no scope in CS-GO. And just like a 360 no scope, why would you ever compare it to real life.

war thunder has realistic damage models. So don't make reasons about it being a video game, I know the game doesn't need to be realistic but we just want it to be accurate without it being too Complex like war thunder, but I know the squad devs will probably fix this in the future

Abrams has 2 ammo racks, 1 on the turret and and another by the gunner to store extra rounds, its not intended to be used while in combat

@@SalazonesKintana The ammo is not on the gunner's side, (left side face-on), at floor level. Unless the video is flipped horizontally (which it isn't since text is readable) then it's not meant to be like that since there's no ammo rack there. The ammo rack should be count as hit only if you hit the left side, not the right side.

No amount of material between the shell and the other side will make something spall 90* in the other direction and then even if I doubt it will have enough power left to pierce the metal of a shell casing. Not happening. Crew might be dead, might be not. But no way in _hell_ an ammo rack on the gunners side is gonna blow from a hit like the second hit that the abrams here took. Perhaps when hit on the side like the first shot, but in-game you need a minimum of two shots to kill the ammo rack and there was only one possible hit.

Bro that’s the right fuel tank, not the ammo rack. There’s two spots for the ammo rack, rear right storage on the front right side of the engine, it holds six rounds in reserve (apparently it’s rarely used nowadays). And the main ammo rack in the rear part of the turret.

Not really, the US tank hasn’t fired, therefore the blast door in the turret rear shouldn’t be open, the ammunition would either not have been hit in this case, or detonated through the blowout panels, leaving a (relatively) combat capable vehicle

Assuming this isn’t Warthunder realistic but more Arma III (armor is portrayed by numbers and damage delt is by just dealing more and more damage until it explodes where as Warthunder you need to actually disable parts of the tank by shooting weak spots) the shell (in war thunder terms) would not pen the bottom plate depending on what tank it is… can’t exactly tell but I do remember it’s Russian so T80 or T90s, it would penetrate and destroy the gas tank as well as the ammo stowage hidden behind it. Assuming it’s more Arma-ee it would prolly deal critical damage and that’s why the ammo lit and blew as the game Calculated the pen and just waits before boom

in War thunder terms the shell would have penned, that is an Abrams weak spot and both in War Thunder and real life the entire crew would be dead. the shell will not pen to UFP however given the high angle it would be bounced up to the ring and penned.
