It's because Brugerking has decided to pass on renewing It's contract with Disney for meal toys. Basically, one of Disney's movies had flopped hard. Then, when Disney came back from the grave, Burger King was panicking and trying to find a suitable replacment. They paid a rediculous amount of money to license Spongebob. More than they ever paid Disney. I'm sure the censors decided not to fight them because that would be killing the fatted cow that way paying Nick.
