X^2/4 + 4X^2/9 = 9X^2 + 16X^2/36 (cross multiplying!). Now we have to take the sqr. rt. of 25X^2/36, which is of course 5X/6.

step one ignore the sqroot. this makes the problem (x^2)/4 + (4x^2)/9 step two use bow tie method. Top becomes 9x^2 + 16x^2 which is 25x^2 (exponents are exactly the same so we can add the two coefficients) Bottom is 36 Step 3 put the root back. top is 5x since 25 and x^2 are both perfect squares. Bottom is 6 since sqroot of 36 is 6. so final answer is (5x)/6 or C

I'm 70 years old. One thing that I am finding out about my schooling is much was not taught to me. The only Square root problems were complicated process of figuring out square root of a number on paper.(i wasn't good at that) Never multiplied or divided etc square roots. I can not ever remember a number to the power of 0 I wonder what else I was never taught.

Looks very complex but it is quite easy to do, starting with a bowtie fraction: SQR( (9x²+16x²) / 36 ) = SQR (25x²) / SQR(36) = 5x/6 so answer C

Have to brute-force this a bit, as the lowest common denominator inside the radical is 4 times 9, or 36. So you get sqrt[(9x^2 )/36 + (16x^2)/36] = sqrt[(25x^2)/36] = 5x/6. So I guess I like answer (c). Sure hope I get an A+++, 100%, and a smiley face.
