I think I realized why dragon bolt blessing in the base game reduces lightning negation. It wasn’t meant for us. Vyke’s dragonbolt whose blessing was one from Lansseax was meant for him not the tarnished that we play. The blessing we receive from Florrisax it was meant for us and so we became stronger. Same with her dragonbolt.

Its funny how she emphasizes that we're "landbound" and can "soar" with the power of dragons, yet at the same time we've seen what happens to most who partake in enough communion: cursed to crawl around as wyrms. It's no doubt placidusax wanted to use humans to get rid of his nemesis, but I wonder if the part where humans corrupt and doom themselves in the process was an intended side effect

Beings forced into existence by unnatural methods vs natural beings blessed by the crucible vs those bestowed with grace vs those who live in death. Everything that's considered unnatural is thrown at the bottom and that holds up in the DLC. The Nox were Shamanfolk who descended from the ancient Numen, arriving from another world most likely in small numbers. They were sacrificed when the Crucible was the highest order, but the rise of Marika and the Golden Order upended that. Albinaurics and Jars are hunted and/or tortured for sport, the Ancient Dragons hate the Drakes, and the Omen/Hornsent were ethnically cleansed.

Wyrmification is implied by item text to be a curse, likely from the Golden Order, meaning Marika, placed on the people partaking in it. Makes sense since the procedure was overseen by the Elden Lord of a previous age. Dragonification is supposed to be a lengthy and gradual process anyway, I doubt something halfway to a wyrm would still be able move around and hunt dragons very much, let alone avoid prosecution by the Golden Order.

​@@dars1961 true, but the other lore bit we see about magma wyrms is only that their humanity slowly slips away until they "succumb to their fate" The part of it being a curse mentions heroes partaking, so I could see the golden order not being happy about their vaunted members of society partaking, but it also seems to be a natural result of doing something so unnatural And I think the dragons in charge of the communion know it too

With her being the priestess of dragon communion, it actually proves a theory I had. In the base game region you find 2 communion altars and 2 ancient dragon lying on the ground, which shows they were priestesses as well as Florissax. Plus those 2 ancient dragon are not dead, because they didn't crumble and you can still see some colour in their eyes. So it seams there were many priestess in dragon communion.

Imagine being the Tarnished in this quest. They have zero reason whatsoever to drug Florissax. Nothing gives them any indication that they would gain anything at all. They just have this knockout drug, and they're like "I wonder. . ." and then she passes out and the Tarnished just shrugs, all "neato!" and goes on their merry way. Who says there aren't chaos demons in the Lands Between?

​@Umbra_Ursus It's funny you mention sheogorath, because i shamelessly created a fanfiction setting where warhammer 40k, the elder scrolls, and the soulsbourne series all happen in the same setting, just in different dimensions for our hero to go around. The outer gods and the greater will are various gods from warhammer and the elder scrolls. The god of the frienzied flame being Sheogorath and the greater will being Jygalag.

Plesidusax is dead and gone by our hand or slumbering itself at the heart of the storm. Either way, he likeky doesn’t care much for her anymore.

That's what I thought too. It's pointless. His god will never return. His wounds will never heal. His kingdom will never return. In a way you taught her there's things to live for other than the broken lord of dragons and it's okay to move on past him. That's why she comes to feel love for you. You gave her the hope for a world beyond a moment stuck in time, something more than Placidusax can ever realize.

@@MrDaimeon I’ll say this, though, it ain’t uncommon for religious people to give up something, be it meat for lent or fasting to draw closer to God. Hell, even Buddhist monks give up most worldly ties in their attempts to become holy. Florissax, as far as I’m aware, is giving her sleep to Placidusax it of her own free will and doing so to grant her Lord comfort after all the bullshit (potentially after losing his wife, getting in a fight with Bayle, and so on.) To us it may seem cruel and unjust, even stupid, but to florissax, it’s a small way she can comfort the dragonlord as he waits for his god in a realm beyond time.

Also the "first generations" of drake knights from the omonymus set could be ancient dragons since "From birth, drake knights speak not a word. They spend their lives pursuing the strength of dragons, for its sublime beauty and inspiration of awe". It looks like dragons asked for help to the "new society" of men, who derived from the same beasts which worshipped them long ago. Eventually, why Florissax has to give Placidusax the "sleep", maybe to maintain him in that frozen state, waiting for his god?

She might consider that an act of kindness on our behalf and finally be able to have a dream, something that was lost to her. I'm sure Miyazaki didn't intent to lose the purpose of that reason why we give her a sleep pot to server her connection to her lord, given the context clues provided. Think of Florissax as a lover or girlfriend that is trying to get there boyfriend to acknowledge her existence. Assuming there at step one but never make it pass phase 2 of the relationship [for obvious reasons.] So I can logically Deduce not being able to talk to her lord and not getting any restful sleep would be eating away at her mentally. Is a form of torture that I have to put in quotes here. "Unintentionally" save her from that fate. Thus...she has gained a new perspective a freedom she never got. Again this is in my opinion thought.

I am not sure if Bayle really is a drake. He seems to have had a 2nd pair of wings, which he recreates in his 2nd phase. This usually is a mark of the ancient dragons.

I feel like it's a bit presumptuous to say we did it on a whim. A lot of players will likely have killed placidusax by this point, and seeing someone offer their sleep to a corpse in exchange for.... Nothing, is just painful. In a way, i think many people felt that this was a way to atone for what she was going through, or just to ease her suffering by allowing her but one nights rest. Such a loyal servant, offering her own rest for the dragon lord to have, even beyond his death. May she find a better Lord in the Tarnished champion who slayed her master.

You actually don’t need to kill him to quell the Frenzy. You can just enter his arena, activate it before the fight starts, then use a memory of grace to leave without killing him.

I think that it's theoretically possible for the tarnished to become an actual ancient dragon for a few reasons. Becoming a magma wyrm is both a self-inflicted and god-inflicted curse, and of course, Elden Lord powers. 1. If wyrmification is inflicted upon the tarnished by either a. Placidusax, or b. Marika/Golden Order, then a tarnished actually trying to become Elden Lord has defeated Marika and has probably killed Placidusax. This leaves both gods that would inflict a curse upon someone trying to become an ancient dragon gone. This then, of course, leaves the in game reason of consuming too many hearts. 2. Wyrmification is no doubt caused by too many hearts, but it is described as losing someone's humanity. Humanity could also be another word for sanity and that as well (considering Fromsoft, they likely purposely changed it to make it more ambiguous). In any case, since there is an actual ancient dragon helping the tarnished, it's quite possible the tarnished might actually be able to avoid slipping away. Florissax also implies that the tarnished is able to become a true ancient dragon. Considering how long she's been alive, it's possible she's actually seen someone become an ancient dragons. 3. Lastly, the tarnished is probably Elden Lord by the time wyrmification/dragonification begins. With the power of being the Elden Lord (which as far as I can tell can potentially change the very laws of reality), it may be possible to actually allow true dragonification. Or as paraphrased from what someone on the fextralife wiki said, you might even just be able to turn yourself into an ancient dragon. This is even more likely if the tarnished wasn't confined to the constraints of a video game and was able to bring about an 'Age of Dragons' of some kind. If this 'Age of Dragons' needs the help from some sort of rune or from another as the other endings require (Ranni-Age of Stars, Rune of Order-Age of Order, ect.), then Florissax fills in this role of helper. Sadly, considering this is supposed to be the last work Fromsoft + BandaiNameCo do on Elden Ring, we'll probably never get to actually know. Perhaps the modding team can one day bring an Age of Dragons to life.

Florissax transferring her allegiance to the Tarnished makes sense if you consider drgaonkind society is that of predators. Those that are defeated likely offer their services to the one who defeated them to prevent being slain. The Tarnished might have "defeated" her through trickery instead of might but it's the defeat that matters in her mind. The Tarnished proved to be better than she was, and thus she transfers her loyalty and self-will to them.

Unrelated to this topic but if you have any plans on a video regarding the coffin ships on the cerulean coast, the Monoliths at Mohgwynn palace just before the entrance to the Dark Area specifically the entrance closest to the merchant, depict them and the culture theyre tied to,one that seems to involve trees. I like to think Placidusax sent her to bring communion because, since most Ancient Dragons are on Farum Azula, only Bayle and his ilk would be consumed, and Magma Wyrms, flightless beings, cannot rise to the ancient home of the dragons, and thus will be left lowly beasts. A cruel fate, a trap created by the Dragon Lord. As to Florissax and her ability to connect to her lord, I do not think she was truly severed a connection, in fact I am not sure Placidusax noticed one way or another. Given the state he is in, I honestly feel he has kept an arms distance from all his children and kin, and the fact even one devoted servant remembers and reveres him is impressive. Her faith in him is, however, misplaced. I like to think we freed her, by offering her rest. Of all the spirit ashes, her tale is one that speaks to me most because we free her of a thankless servitude and in return, we can take her along with us, and she is able to thank us with a now human heart. By journeying with us, she discovers a sense of love, hence her using that incantation to bolster us in every battle. While some ashes are more sentient than others, i.e. the jellyfish of Lautenna, Florissax has a new purpose, has learned to love her new lord, and given her record of giving so much of herself to her prior lord, I can safely say that we, the Tarnished, have found ourselves perhaps the most devoted of allies in our quest. Tis a shame we do not have an ending to bring about an Age of the Wyrms. I would be delighted to sit upon a throne beside my priestess, staring out at the Lands Between. But, it is not to be...yet...

I wonder what creates the difference between those who partake in communion turning into either magma wyrms or ancient dragon men. Considering that lanseax was able to assume human form and then become a dragon once more. Considering florisax said it was possible for us to become a dragon I am convinced that it is possible to do communion successfully . Human -> ancient dragon man -> ancient dragon. We see the description of the rock heart that says the last thing he saw with his human eyes was a sunset and then became the ancient dragon man. Considering it said human eyes not the reptilian eyes like what happens if you have more than four draconic powers meaning maybe if you have too many hearts that’s what be the cause of the wyrm curse as the partaker ends up more like the drakes than the ancient dragons. The next stage of the transformation into dragon hood may be similar to the ones in dark souls 3 . However the curse may also be external as well as mentioned by another comment. Dragon communion was said to be a “transgression” and thus were cursed, how ever we now know that the ancient dragon funded this so who was it a transgression against? The only other warriors we see with communion powers are banished knights. Marika maybe. What are y’all thoughts on this?

I think Lansseax might still have looked different since she took a complete “human“ form not a draconic human form and also was able to swap back to her dragon form very different from Florissax who sacrificed her dragon form to bring dragon communion to the humans… Also: Lansseax was a Dragon-Cult-Priestess… not a Dragon-Communion-Priestess.

I have a theory for someone to become a dragon they probably have to keep their drecinic powers under control and if that is the case the magma worms are a result of those who lost control because bayles incations lore says it will one day its fire and fury will consume its parttaker one day and how florissax says may u become dragon whole has me thinking it may be possible for someone to become a dragon and if that is possible what type of dragon would we become would we become a drake type or a ancient dragon it's a very interesting concept.

Hey Square! Let me know what you think of this theory of mine: The giant drake we find dead next to the altar was killed by Bayle who ate its heart. I believe this since Bayle summons giant wings in his phase 2 wich dont match the aspect of the crucible wings at all. Theyre bigger and more dragonic than bird like. Also Giant Drakes seem to have more Basal dragon incantations. Greyroll has a Roar so perhaps this giant drake had a Basal Dragon incantation wich granted it wings.

I don't believe Bayle would eat the heart of a fellow drake since they're essentially his children and I think he fought Placidusax to improve their station. His spectral wings are much more reminiscent of ancient dragon wings, which is why I believe they come from the head of Placidusax embedded in his back.

@@draw2death421 I think that's some kind of ritual combat because it's the only time we experience that in the base game or dlc and one of the drakes is using lightning which is a power associated with the ancient dragons.

I'm assuming the gigantic drake is the Charro referred to in "Charro's Hidden Grave"; hidden by his corpse, it would seem. A closer look at Charro's corpse tells us it was killed by a massive dragon communion harpoon lodged in the back of its head. We know the harpoons are used as great arrows, and the only things I can see that's big enough to use that harpoon are the Rykard/the God Devouring Serpent or Gransax. Pretty sure we can mark the snake off the list, but then that leaves us with the fairly enigmatic Gransax. It has been observed that it doesn't look like Gransax was killed in battle. ...Of course, it's entirely possible Florissax's dragon form is just as large as Gransax.
