Love your videos. Another trick for shallow is if your good in the workshop with a dremel tool you can cut down many lures into shallow running square bills. Be accurate and tune them in your swimming pool.

Squarebilling is one of my favorite ways to catch bass in the fall on Guntersville. Depth is the absolute most critical part of it. Matt and Tim really do give us all the "goods" when it comes down to there content. BTW... its a great time to stock up on the tactical dd crank. I personally have 6 because they flat out work when the water is cool! Thanks TB!

I've never tried a squarebill, and I didn't even know there was a difference between a crankbait and a squarebill. I definitely want to try this ASAP. I looked at my lures collection and I have about 5 crankbaits and 1 small squarebill, I am going to buy a couple more. I also need to figure out my spinner reel too, not sure if I'll ever figure that one out. It is a decent one, a Garcia Pro Max, but I need to practice with it.

Should check out the 6th Sense Curve Finesse Squarebill. Smaller profile and dives 1-3 ft. An odd SB technique that works for me fishing out the back of the boat as a co-angler is fishing it like a jerk bait. I reel it down to the right depth, pause, jerk jerk, pause, reel in.

Matt, if you haven't already, try the Megabass P5 Destroyer Madbull model for squarebills. It's like the 845 CBR but more refined. Also I know you love and recommend the Spro cranks and they are amazing cranks, but check out the NIshinne RB. All 3 of the shallow models are phenomenal for the same places/times as the shallow Spro cranks and the Lucky Craft BDS 3.

Thanks for the heads up Dustin, I haven't given the Nishines a fair try yet 👍You have a keen eye, that was an Aldeberan MGL. I often throw my tiny cranks on them and that one was paired to an 864 deep flex specifically for the fat spro 50/BDS1 combo. It's still too early to give a full assessment... need to catch some more fish this fall to be comfortable with it.

@flannel872
@flannel872 4 жыл бұрын
Remember, when your bank fishing pretend your bow hunting for fish. Thoroughly and stealthily cover that water right in front of you first; consider your clothing to break up your silhouette on outings. Grey for cloudy days, light blue for clearer days, & consider camo/flannel/dull colors to mask your silhouette when your immediate background isn't so open. Walking right up to the edge and trying to bomb a cast to the opposite bank in a neon green shirt will decrease the amount of action you get. Be methodical, and remember fish can see out of the water very well, and that sound travels 5 times faster in water than in air. Be the apex predator, and check your drag settings before that first cast.

Temps in Ga randomly dropped to low 60s night only hitting mid 70s in day. Couldnt catch anything early so I just sat and watched. Noticed schooled fish swimming by the bank in a V, almost a chain of comand type thing. Waited and noticed blow ups near the bank. They were hearding those shad into the shallows. Cught a spot and a 3lb larg in 3 cast. I guess my point is dont get frustrated just sit watch and listen. Sometimes Nature will let you know what to do.

In my experience I usually catch dinks when fishing with a square bill. I have better luck with a 3.3 keitech to catch more quality fish in the fall. Is that the same way with y'all?

I totally agree..rather catch some quality then fill the boat with dinks.seems like belly weighted keitech works year round and I get bigger fish around bait
