The title is more interesting in the original Japanese, as there is a double meaning thanks to homonyms. As written, it clearly means "Jesters of the Moonless Clear Sky". However, when spoken out [Tsuki-naki Misora no Doukeshi-tachi], one might hear it as "Jesters of Misfortune". The homonyms are "tsuki-naki" (moonless or luckless) and "misora" (clear sky or fortune). This may be a reference to a novel called 月なきみそらの天坊一座 (Tsuki-naki Misora no Tenbou Ichiza) about the life of a magician in post-war Japan. The title there may intentionally have the same double meaning. English version of this is called "Jesters of the Moon" even though the Japanese clearly shows 月なき meaning "moonless".

Nobuo Uematsu is really good with this vibe/atmosphere thing - "Court Jesters" sounds kinda clownish, joyful, just like it should sound, perfectly describing characters and situation.

I've always seen this called Jesters of the Moon, but it's such an awesome song. It's unfortunate that it never plays for long, because it's ridiculously catchy. The rearrangement in FFRK was also incredibly good.

I can never tell what key this piece is in. I know it’s in A, I just don’t know if it’s major or minor. The bass during the melody implies major, but the overall feel is minor. 😵‍💫

This track was originally called "Jesters of the Moon." It's not the only track that gets a re-name. "Loss of Me (Beatrix's theme)" gets re-named as "Rose of May" for whatever reason.

Probably because in Japanese "Loss of Me" and "Rose of May" are kinda written the same way, so probably the first name was just a mistranslation

Ah yes, these two mysterious characters- Zorn and Thorn, which according to the Ultimania are "over 80 years old" and "aren't actually twins"… Which never gets fully explained, especially when they fuse together and transform into a two headed monster. (Expect to see that "never explained" statement a lot) And they also talk really annoyingly. 0:30 Thank you for wasting a bunch of time with this needlessly dragged out scene of these two clowns arguing, Sakaguchi and other co-writers… And before anyone says anything, I have nothing against Sakaguchi as a person. He is just better in a producer role than he is as a writer, and IX's writing, which he was heavily involved in, really shows. Also, nostalgia shills like to toss around his "IX is my favourite Final Fantasy" quote like it actually means something and is proof that IX is objectively "the best Final Fantasy" . He also said the same exact thing about FFV. This is the same guy that nearly tanked his entire company with that awful "The Spirits Within" movie. Sure, his opinion is "gospel". I'd also like to point out that he was going to do THIS with Kitase and Nojima in the original FFVII if Nomura hadn't stopped him and the others: [Tetsuya Nomura: But if I hadn't stopped you, in the second half of the game, you were planning to kill everyone off but the final three characters the player chooses! Yoshinori Kitase: No way! I wrote that? Where? Tetsuya Nomura: In the scene where they parachute into Midgar. You wanted everyone to die there! Yoshinori Kitase: Really? He definitely would have objected to a lot of the questionable writing that Sakaguchi put in and would have tried to rewrite and improve some things. Nomura is a huge scapegoat for the fanbase and they love to blame him for things that aren't his fault, like the Whispers in the VII Remake. (That weren't even his idea) I hope Nomura will be involved in the IX Remake.

It had a lot of wasted potential and I WANT it to be better, I’m just pointing out problems that are often overlooked to draw more attention to them. And hopefully a IX Remake can fix all of these problems.
