This one's always good. Anything that persists into battles is especially powerful.

襲撃と言えばFF10のやつが有名だけど、自分としてはそれに劣らないほどこっちも好き 襲撃される側で守るものがある中での戦いというのも燃える

The sense of panic is definitely there. Especially when Odin gallops in on his horse. Just goes to show that he’s one of the most powerful summons in the game.

0:00 [Puck runs onto the screen, and into Vivi, exclaiming "Oh!". Puck then runs up to Freya] Puck "Freya! The town's in trouble!" "Ya gotta come back, please!" Freya "No! My fears were true!" "At once, my lord!" Gee, maybe this whole "coming down the trunk" plan was a really freaking stupid idea? Seriously, what made you think that you should do this strategy? [Freya runs off the screen] Puck "C'mon, you deadweights! Hustle!" [Puck runs off the screen] Zidane "You heard him! Let's go!" [Zidane, Vivi, and Quina run off the screen. Beatrix appears at the other end of the screen they were just in] Beatrix "Ha! They fell for it." That's right, Beatrix is LAUGHING as she is about to commit war crimes on the rat people. Keep in mind that immediately after Cleyra, the game will suddenly try to portray Beatrix as "sympathetic and conflicted" and apparently "never wanted any of this", while scenes like this one right now clearly say otherwise. [The screen changes to show the Cleyra settlement. Balls of light descend, and turn into Black Mages, who attack and kill anyone they see] Burmecian Soldier Dan "How dare you show up here!" [The black mage does a fire attack on him] "Ungah!" [He dies] Okay, how did a simple low level fire spell instantly kill him? The Burmecian soldiers are being portrayed as incompetent and complete pushovers. [Two black mages appear in front of priests in front of the entrance to the inn, and they're killed as well, the black mages exclaiming "KILL!" aftewards] Okay seriously, WHERE IS THAT AIRSHIP BRIGADE FROM LINDBLUM?! Cid sent them, yet we never see them actually help the Burmecians and Cleyrians. They had to have noticed Cleyra's sandstorm vanishing and the Alexandrian airships surrounding the tree. But we never see any aid from them in the story.

the main characters are the first outsiders to know and the airships were to be used as deterrent/sanctions which never happened anyways

@@EddDoubleDD You are just making up headcanon about the airships. They never played a role because of bad writing and IX being an unfinished and rushed game.

@@EddDoubleDD No, I have read through the script of IX several times, it’s available to see online, you should reread it yourself instead of making poorly remembered assumptions. I have literally made a whole review commentary of the script called “Everything Wrong With Final Fantasy IX” that points out all of the bad writing, inconsistencies, disappointments and plot holes in the game. It’s on fanfiction, you should check it out to get my points and context.

1:27 Cleyra gets completely nuked, and all because of Garnet's stupid actions. It's funny how the fanboys will whine and accuse VII and VIII of being "too dark and emo" when IX gives us this bullshit, and it's being done by a really shallow, over the top, moustache twirling, cartoon villain like Brahne. (Whose motives just amount to the juvenile, lazy, and incredibly vague "she's just greedy"… If it can be called even that, since the game never really properly explains what made her pull a complete flip on her behaviour and go completely nuts. And if that wasn't ridiculous enough, the game will then try and make a cheap last minute attempt for you to try and feel sorry for her) This is one of IX's big problems, you'll go from a cutscene of war crimes and an entire city being obliterated… To Steiner just being goofy. Honestly, they overdid it with the destruction aspect. Thousands of innocent civilians are obliterated left and right, but you're supposed to ignore that and care about characters melodramatic "existential crises" and forced slapstick in a world where a crazy queen can kill many in seconds. IX has constant mood and tone whiplash, and it's ironic how some people will claim that IX "isn't taking itself too seriously" when really it's the opposite. FFVII at most only gave us the tragedy of the Sector 7 upper plate of Midgar falling into the slums, and the Remake still fixed and improved on a lot of things surrounding that scenario, such as: -Actually having the slums evacuated, with even a Shinra rookie security officer, who hasn't been brainwashed into being a scumbag, helping! (Unlike the original where the main characters didn't immediately warn people of the dangers and evacuate… for no real reason) -Having the Turks (Reno and Rude) actually show hesitation, reservations, and (afterwards) remorse towards their actions in causing the plate to collapse, actually humanizing them, unlike the original. (And later on the original game will try to suddenly act like the Turks are "decent guys" during and after the Wutai sub-quest, glossing over the fact that they are responsible for the deaths of many innocent people) -The Remake giving President Shinra and the other Shinra executives a much more believable motive to do all of this: To create a false flag, blame it on Wutai, and restart the war with them. (Whereas in the original they made the plate fall just to get rid of a small group of rebels: Avalanche. Which, even as corrupt greedy corporate leaders, makes no sense because it would cause way more costs for them than benefits) Which is pretty topical nowadays. Also, regarding the Eidolons themselves: According to the IX lore, they are supposed to be the guardians of the Crystal and world (much like the WEAPONS from FFVII), yet right now, they are doing the exact opposite. How exactly this crazy, overweight, out of shape queen is able to forcibly override and command the protecters of the world/crystal to turn against it and devastate the lands is never properly explained.

How the heck is it _Sarah's_ fault that her mother, Kuja, and Alexandrians are doing massacres left and right? Who are you to complain about rabid fans when you can't even get the story right? Did you forget what it is The Invincible does to Eidolons? It corrupts their control at will. Kuja likely used a similar kind of magic to help Brahne control them in the first place. The story never tries to make you forget anything bad happening didn't happen, it's showing that isolated characters are not all aware of events they are not there for until it all hits them in the face. It is not the game's fault you have a poor attention span, when characters later in the game keep reminiscing of the horrors of war while trying to live through repairs or seeking ways to restore lost settlements, such as the Cleyran priest in Daguerreo. Steiner doesn't wholly come to terms with the reality that his Queen betrayed the values HE valued until later because he was THAT loyal to the royal family as the evidence mounts more and more to the point even he can't deny it any longer, and it culminates confronting Brahne and Beatrix. Steiner is a REALLY stubborn character, his about-face was always intended to take time.

@@MrMarket1987 [How the heck is it Sarah's fault that her mother, Kuja, and Alexandrians are doing massacres left and right? Kuja likely used a similar kind of magic to help Brahne control them in the first place.] Again, you are just making up headcanons, we don’t know if the Invincible’s power to control the Eidolons, and the extraction ritual performed on Garnet and Eiko are even linked. Lot’s of stuff in IX is so poorly explained and established. You also completely missed my point that the only reason that Brahne was able to completely obliterate Cleyra in the first place was because she had Garnet’s Eidolons. Garnet may not be to blame for the ground assaults, but she is definitely to blame for pretty much handing over her entire selection of eidolons to her mother after all the hard work Zidane and Tantalus did to get her ass out of Alexandria. In the end Garnet is the one responsible for giving her mother magic nuclear weaponry that annihilated Cleyra, seriously hurt Lindblum and then Alexandria itself killing god knows how many people, and ruining the love story. But hey, we're talking about a game where a war criminal (Beatrix) is never confronted about the shit she did and is left to stay as an unbeatable mary sue. [The story never tries to make you forget anything bad happening didn't happen, it's showing that isolated characters are not all aware of events they are not there for until it all hits them in the face.] Cid was definitely aware, here is what he says in Disk 2 Lindblum, "Brahne was after the gwok eidolons. That much, I knew." So this also (partially) falls on Cid for not telling everyone this crucial bit of information back in Disk 1 Lindblum, especially to Garnet. Though, even if you remove "not knowing about the Eidolons" from the picture, it doesn't really justify and excuse Dagger's stupid and extremely selfish behaviour when she WANTED to escape from her mother in the first place. If Garnet was so convinced that just talking to her mother would work, why not just do this at the beginning of the game instead of wanting to be “kidnapped” and escape in the first place? It makes the whole beginning of the game compl pointless. [It is not the game's fault you have a poor attention span,] My attention span is just fine thank you. You are the one who can’t seem to read between the lines and vividly remember the script when it is available to be seen online. I literally wrote a whole review fic called “Everything Wrong With Final Fantasy IX”, where I comment through the script and dialogue of IX and point out all of the bad writing, inconsistencies and plot holes, it on fanfiction, you should check it out to better understand my points and the context. [when characters later in the game keep reminiscing of the horrors of war while trying to live through repairs or seeking ways to restore lost settlements, such as the Cleyran priest in Daguerreo.] …Okay? What’s that have to do with what I’m stating? You are just moving the goalposts now. [Steiner doesn't wholly come to terms with the reality that his Queen betrayed the values HE valued until later because he was THAT loyal to the royal family as the evidence mounts more and more to the point even he can't deny it any longer, and it culminates confronting Brahne and Beatrix. Steiner is a REALLY stubborn character, his about-face was always intended to take time.] Only because, again, Garnet was being needlessly secretive and refusing to explain to Zidane and everyone exactly why she wanted to be “kidnapped” and get to Lindblum back in Disk 1, not to mention how he conveniently wasn’t present to hear Cid explain everything about how he knew Brahne getting aggressive in Disk 1 Lindblum. And then Steiner got roped in to Garnet’s dumb “just go back home” subplot caused by her out of nowhere and arbitrary denial of the Queen’s insanity. The first disk of IX is full of contrived writing and plot conveniences. You are giving the writers way too much credit.
